Is creating a baseball universe similar to NCAA possible?
I want to start by saying I don't have much experience with the desktop version of OOTP, I've mostly played the mobile version. But could a league be made where players are only able to play for 4 years before retiring? But also instead of a draft there is just a giant influx of FA every year and the teams with the "better programs" have more money to spend on the better players?
Has anyone attempted something to this effect or can tell me it's possible for me to make before I waste hours hopelessly searching the options? I don't want it to be a feeder league or anything and annoy worried about players leaving early like after 3 years or Anything. |

As far the conferences and bracket style yes. You will have to create each conference as a separate league and then associate all the conferences together in league association and then set up the playoff for you select 64 teams to be in the playoffs and I want game elimination. All your games will have to be played in conference however somebody can correct me if I'm wrong if you manually create your own schedule I think you can set to play games out of conference (Out of league). But as far as the more technical stuff retiring after four years in the big free-agent pool rather than a draft that's beyond me perhaps someone can help with that

I don't see why it couldn't be done. It would be similar to the MLB setup where you have the MLB league, containing the two leagues, containing divisions, with inter league play.
In this setup you should have the NCAA league, set up the conferences as leagues within it, and then add divisions to each conference/league and allow inter league play. Seems like it should work. |

You can probably make something that's similar to the NCAA, though you're not going to be able to mirror it exactly.
To summarize what the two posters above me have said you're going to have to make your biggest choice regarding the structure. Option A: Each conference is a separate league, all leagues are associated. Pro's are that you have "rivals", you can set # of bids per conference, etc. Con is that you will only have conference games counting towards the regular season standings. Option B: Have the conferences be divisions within a single league/two subleagues setup. Pro: Have inter-conference matchups, easier to manage. Con: No conference records/tournaments. I'd go with B myself, I think it will just be a lot less headache (associations can get complicated, IMO), and will probably make it easier for you to just play the game, while still getting something that feels like college baseball. As for the players, it will be very straightforward to set up a 18-21 age range, and for how to distribute the players, I would recommend a no-financials league with a draft. To favor the traditional programs, you then can edit the draft order in whatever manner you see fit. I.E., in a 5 round draft you might let a Mississippi State have all its picks within the first 2 rounds, while an Air Force might have all its picks in the last round. Hope that answers some of your questions. |

I had a league that had a college structure too it. Not exactly like the NCAA but still. I made a custom schedule for it and just had separate divisions for each league. Set the age range as appropriate and it worked perfectly.
