Need Help Creating Fictional League
I am relatively new to the game, or at least at creating fictional leagues. I created a complete fictional league with names, logos, and edited the colors for the team along with the unis/hats. Where I need help is here:
1) I want my fictional league to start with a fantasy draft of current MLB players. It started with a list of fictional players 2) I want each new 'Amateur' (not really) draft to be from a historical year's entire MLB roster. So, for example, say I want my first draft to be from 2003, I want to be able to pick from all of the players from '03, not just rookies from that year. Im thinking it could be interesting to see how the rosters would change with such a talent influx with each season. As a side note, I have made a template for this league in order to have the teams/locations/colors correct, but for some reason my template doesn't include the logos that I assigned to each team. If there is a way I can change this without having to re-assign these photos, it would be much appreciated. Thanks |

I just want to clarify one thing. You want to start with, for example, the 2002 MLB players. Then, in your draft, you want to pick from the entire 2003 MLB roster, including duplicates of guys who played in 2002? So you'd end up with, say, two Jamie Moyers?

Yes, if I started in '02, I would want to use an entire roster for a specific year in the upcoming draft. But I would avoid duplicates by using a draft from, say, 1985 instead of 2003. Thanks

I am going to let someone else handle #1 as i have had issues as of late to get that to work properly.
Best I could say is start with 2015 quickstart. Go to League Settings - Add new league. mass delete all fictional players. release all quickstart players, you can affiliate all 2015 minors to you new league if you want. Delete MLB. Schedule fantasy draft for released MLB players in your FBL. To get players from a particular year. Go to league Settings - Options? and look for the database path. Copy the OOTP stats folder html line or whatever it's called using ctrl-c & ctrl-v into that spot. Click random debut & import historical rookies. Set the min & max from the year you want to draft from and rookies only from 1983 will appear in the draft. Oh set draft for November not June and make it big enough so that all players available will be drafted 10 rounds should be more then enough. Probably wont go past 4 rds. Only way to have 2015 rookies is the way i mentioned above. You could start a fictional league add the DB path, import historical rookies anmd set it to 2014 and that might work. i can not think of an easy way to have vets from each year appear in the draft but i know of a work around, though tedious. When your draft appears delete all fictional players. Create new league and go to import historical wizard and import the year you want. Release all 1983 players. Manually edit them so they are draft eligible. and they should populate your june or November 2015 and beyound draft. Backup your league often. If i had time i would test this myself, so update us if it works.

Ok, so I tried doing the MLB quickstart, but couldn't seem to find a way to add another league post creation. Not sure if I just can't find it or its not an option. I tried to also create a league that had both the MLB and FBL to start, but the draft pools were messed up with fictional players in both the MLB and FBL inaugural pools. Hopefully someone can help on that front
Where I did find success, however was in copying the database path. I set the draft to '97 and deleted my feeder leagues, and it only came up with rookies from '97. That will definitely be helpful. Only problem here is-how do I change the draft to another day/month? couldnt seem to find it I will try again with the way The Game suggested to add the vets. When I make the new game using historical wizard, how do I get that roster back to my original game? Probably just going to add maybe the top 150-200 players along with the rookies from (given year) to make it a bit less tedious and to not saturate the league too much. Thanks guys, more updates to come |
