My problem with the one-pitch mode

The one-pitch mode might save some time, but IMHO it takes away some of the realism and strategy from a baseball game. For instance, taking pitches and throwing to first or laying down a bunt for a hit or sacrifice. And, really, how long does it take to play an OOTP game on PBP mode? 15-20 minutes?

I prefer to play my OOTP games as close to real-life baseball as possible. And this game has taught me so much in terms of strategy from things that I've learned on my own to the countless contributions and suggestions I've received from so many of you on these forums. One example is knowing when and where to steal a base. I used to be a lot more aggressive and careless about stealing bases. As a result, my runners got thrown out a lot and my stolen base success rate was embarrassing. Then I started paying closer attention to the pitch-by-pitch screen and where the last pitch was thrown, how fast was it and I kept track on the pitch counts. All of these things factored into my strategy as well as the catcher's arm behind home plate and the pitcher's rating at holding runners.

Simply put, I would recommend not using the one-pitch mode unless it's a blowout and you're up 10-0. Great game as always!

You can get through a PBP game in 15-20min? Takes me that long to get through a game in one-pitch mode.

Yeah, with viewing all the matchups and history 1 pitch mode takes me at least 20 minutes. It would take forever for me to play out one game in pitch-by-pitch mode.

I do pitch by pitch and it takes an hour or so for a game. I enjoy playing this way. I have a fictional league and team. I feel like I'm growing and becoming part of the team, seeing the ups and downs as the season progresses.

You do realize you can have all the strategy of pbp in one pitch mode. I play one pitch until there are opposing runners on, then use the keypad to slow down to pbp. For example 4 holds the runner, 5 is throw to first etc. If I have runners on that I want to steal or hit and run then again I use the keypad to get the options I want. I still get through my games in about 10-15 mins.

I play (and watch sometimes) in pitch-by-pitch. 30-45 minutes to play, 25-30 minutes to watch. One pitch is too unrealistic for me.
I rarely play out all my games, usually watch opening day and any playoff elimination games.

this is why OOTP is the best game ever made. Both options are available and it is easy to switch back and forth according to your preference.

these types of choices are everywhere in OOTP and really allows the individual to play the game they want to and that makes for a fantastic experience.

Thats the best part of playing out the games we become attached to a few of the players. Sometimes hard to make the trades or allow players to go FA if one is attached to them. I love how we tend to personalize the game quite a bit.

I don't like playing pitch by pitch and getting to pick the pitch a runner steals on because in real MLB most runners (I think) either always have a green light by default or get a green light at certain times to steal and then it is at their own discretion. The manager doesn't usually tell them to steal no matter what on a certain pitch or ball & strike count.
