Have 14 want 16

See subject.

Is there an upgrade option available that lets one go from one year's version of OOTP to another? If so how much is it?

Simply click on the link to purchase the latest version. There is no in game upgrade path and you have missed v15 anyway.

Well...

That's unfortunate.

So one must buy a whole new game each year?

Must have been a true marketing genius to come up with that strategy.

Why is that a problem?

I buy a new Football Manager every year and count myself lucky to get it. Likewise OOTP.

Every game I can think of is like that. You can still move your league over to the new version so in essence it is an "upgrade".

I feel your pain. I know most sports game have annual release and makes you wish they will release expansions instead of annual release. However, jumping from 14 to 16 is a huge leap and the cost is actually reasonable compared to getting something like football manager. OOTP is the complete package and doesnt charge you extra for cheats/editors or anything. So the answer is no there is no upgrade option and you have to purchase each game separately.

To add to this, the cost is not only reasonable, but the entertainment cost of even "premium" priced games like FM is pennies compared to most other entertainment options out there.

You pay $40 for OOTP, and you will probably get hundreds of hours of entertainment out of it. If you get 100 hours, then your entertainment cost per hour is $0.40. Compare that to a movie, at least in the U.S. Even if you go solo, you're probably spending at least $10 on the ticket, plus $10 on food, for two hours. That's an entertainment cost of $10/hour. Hell, even if you decide you don't like OOTP after a mere five hours, that's still only $8/hour - less than the movie. And frankly, if you have other people in your house, they could also enjoy OOTP, making it an even more valuable expenditure.

On top of that, with EA Sports you're supporting an independent developer, not some giant conglomerate like EA sports.

Just my two cents, though!

Maybe Brad should market the game as "Not an EA product!"

I'll echo what's already been said here. The coast of the game is very reasonable. You're not paying $60. The model of buy a version and upgrade for less as new versions are released is long dead.

The upgrades make this a new game every year. Plus as the game is patched after it is released, new features are sometimes added. You're not getting that with other companies.

This needs to be highlighted. This alone makes OOTP so much more worth the cost than any of the other annual sports games. When the new Madden comes out, you're stuck starting up a new league. With OOTP, on the other hand, my current league has been running since OOTP13 - it was imported through 14, 15, and now 16.

In my opinion, $40 a year is a bargain, simply for the ability to port your leagues forward and take advantage of the added features.

Actually, since last year's version of MLB: The Show for Playstation, you can carry your "Road to the Show" Career mode player, or Franchise mode over from one version to the next.

And don't worry people, MLB The Show still sucks at career mode.

Hey Wolf,

What was that game you showed me one time about commerce and building a business.

I've looked all over Steam and I've found a couple of potentials but I was hoping to find that one that you showed.

No worries if you don't remember.

Speaking of commerce and business and not sure if it was the game but I like Capitalism 2 and Capitalism Lab. Lab is only available direct from enlight . I played 2 when I was 7 and it was the reason I am studying commerce.

Thanks. I thought that was the one I saw on Steam. Can't find it. Time to take another look.

Thanks, guys.

OP: We're not alone in selling an annual game that's full price every year, with no upgrade pricing. Yes, I work for the company, but I agree with those who've said you get a lot of value for $40.

$40 a year is well worth it for this game no matter what you call it. I will continue buying it every year as long as it continues to improve, and I haven't seen the quality of improvements decline since I was converted from Baseball Mogul in 2009. Impressive for a computer game series to say the least.
