Hmm did you keep untiring him and putting up his stats on editor?

Nope, but the team was stacked around him so i'm guessing that is why he stayed around.

in my ABF league using neutralized stats Ruth hit well over 1100 HR and played until he was 43 or so. Also was a pitcher until age 31. Why do you assume someone edited him? Airman has been around for awhile.

I never play historical so not sure if it happens much. I really think the only reason he lasted this long was because I had a stacked lineup around him. Plus the i'm guessing aging modifiers are better during those times then current times.

Did you use real stats or neutralized?

Vern Fuller, an obscure infielder in the late 1960s, played over 26 seasons in my historical, with over 3000 hits. Britt Burns, a decent early-to-mid-80s pitcher, has over 300 wins and 20 seasons in a row with at least 10 wins as of 1999. Both without edits. So it happens even amongst the lesser types, not to mention Ruthian talents.

Something fishy happened to his ratings in 1936, the first year of his actual retirement. If you did not edit him, then this should be posted as a bug.

It's either a fluke year, or a bug with recalc. We can't tell which without looking at OP's settings.

Hey quest

Recall that the game will recalc a player,s last season over and over if there is no more years. ThAt is how stuff like this happens. Bill keister bats .359 at age 40 or billy Hamilton is a 80 steal guy at age 55. Or a 1 year 30 inning pitcher wins 350 games

It's a main reason I don't play historical anymore. Decreasing stats need to be added to the db or the game itself must recalc differently when no further stats exist.

Been a personal ootp pet peeve for years

1936 is no clone of 1935 in the above career.

But using recalc without retiring according to history is just stupid anyways and no fault of OOTP when it turns out wonky stuff.

If you want guys playing a hypothetical career, you need to leave recalc off.

That's a fair answer.
But would be nice to recalc play past career as well.

I would be happy to help create a database to create that if it has interest.

In my alternate MLB universe, Babe made the Hall of Fame as a pitcher:

He ended up hitting .323 with 86 homeruns and 273 RBI during his 20 years in the majors.
