Starting over with an existing league

I started a new fictional league in OOTP15 and imported into OOTP16.

I would like to simply just start this league over in the beginning (preferably at the start of spring training or back on Jan1). I could either start with my team and the league players as they stand or start altogether anew at the fictional draft on jan 1.

I am wanting to take this opportunity to restructure my minor league system and also correct some league modifiers issues I am having.

I have no idea how to go about dong this though. Anyone offer any suggestions?

There is no way to do what you ask unless you saved it as a template in the beginning.

When I create my leagues, I usually copy the entire league folder to a backup directory before I ever push a button to begin play.

That's the voice of experience speaking. If you don't do that, what you should do is to zip each league up into an archive file as soon as it's created, which is what I do.

According to OOTP itself, OOTP MLB play (modern and historical) outnumbers OOTP fictional play three to one.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

You can restart your league, just not from the beginning season when it was created. So it will start as brand new league, but just in the current year.

On the first day of the preseason, go to league setup, "League Settings", "Functions" tab (put yourself in Commish mode) and hit the button on the left "Schedule Fantasy Draft"

This will release all players from all teams/levels and an inaugural draft will be setup. (More on this later)

If you wish, a little further down are options for deleting entire league history, player stats, service time, etc etc. The choice is yours here.

Click on the "Leagues and Teams" tab, then "Edit League Structure".
Make all the changes you wish to your various leagues, restructuring, divisions, etc etc. (Select each league level from the drop down on the right).

GENERATE A NEW SCHEDULE for each level - sorry, don't mean to yell, but I can't emphasize this enough. Anytime you edit your league structure be sure to create new schedules.

Make any other adjustments or tweaks to your league settings/finances you might wish to.

Once you've done all this, you can hold your inaugural draft. When you get to the draft screen, you can edit the order of selection if you wish, leave as is, or have the game randomize it.

Once your draft is completed, I would suggest looking at financial reports and a few contracts to make sure everything looks good.

Now you can start your league brand new.

As I said, you just can't go back to the original first year.

Thank you all for replying

Thank you Bluenoser for the great advice. I am going to do your suggestions

I had this league starting in 2000 so to go back and restart in 2001 is perfectly fine for me in this fictional league

Just want to add - this is what I do. (BTW, I'm total fictional and spend tons of time creating my fictional worlds)

I make regular back-ups through the creation process, but once I have everything done and the league is ready to start playing, I make a copy of the .lg folder, zip it up and tuck it away on an external HD. (many options where to keep it)

If I ever want to start this league over, there it is.

I can even start it over with all new players if I wish, simply by releasing all players, deleting all FA's, filling each level with fictional players, then do a "Fantasy Draft".

Glad I could help, enjoy your league and if you get stuck, ask questions in this thread. I'll track it for a couple days.

Than you. Definately going to make a backup

I have been an OOTP"ER since the beginning. One would think I would have figured out or learned this by now
