Do you guys have any tips on how to look for trades?
I was wondering if you guys have any tips on determining who to trade and when to trade? Also is there a handy tab or something where I can see where my team is weak at and what the other teams would need so I can try to make a deal with the teams that will have a need of the type of players that I can let go?
I can't seem to find a tab or something where I can determine what my team needs or something like an advice to look for and improve a certain position and I think the notes and tasks of old OOTP 14 or something used to say that I should improve a position. Handy tips on navigating different parts of the game will also be very welcome. I know there is no formula for winning the games 100% but I want to hear some tips from the veterans on how they go about browsing through the different tabs and informations efficiently. Shop a Player nearly always gets you a decent starting point.

Also a lot depends on when you are attempting a trade. Is this offseason, early season or nearing the deadline? How I approach finding a trade partner differs in each as well as who I may be trading away and trying to acquire. If it's the offseason, I'm mostly exploring trading away players approaching Free agency that I'm likely not to resign. I rarely make many moves early to mid season unless I have significant injury issues. As I near the trade deadline, I will get very active. I will take a look at the standings and divide the teams into two categories (buyers and sellers) and will explore my options depending on what I am trying to accomplish, where I am on budget, how my minor league system looks and what I may be willing to part with or what positions I want to acquire, etc.. The deadline is a fun time. For me, I start with looking at my team stats and seeing what I'm doing well vs not. I do the same for the AI, especially if I am a trade deadline seller to see which teams are the right buyers for what I am selling. |

I always seem to forget that option. I remember there was a screen somewhere in the league page but I can't recall where it was that displays the best player in a team for a particular position and how they rank compared to the other teams in the league. I know it was on the fantasy league but I can't seem to find it on the regular game mode. I know there was one on the team info screen but it was only displaying your players.
I got a question regarding shop players though. There seems to be that little area with positions and it has S and P on the top with little balls that has the colour similar to ratings (Blue-Yellow-Green-Red), what does that part mean? |

I don't have any knowledge or attachments or any feelings towards the players in real life since I don't have a clue who is who so I can't really say that "I want X player on my team because he is so good in real life and I want a dream team". I played and had a good run with a historical 1871 league using real players with random debuts but I saw some familiar names such as Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig (know him for the disease and not his baseball career). My current aim as a manager is to get some tips and guidelines on efficient ways of trading since I usually want to take the team with the lowest rating and turn them in to a power house and then resign and take another team with the lowest budget and rating and win with what I have. |

Cheers! I swear I am gonna bookmark that tab at the start of every game that I will play. I used to easily find it but forgot where it was.

Ok. So what are those tiny balls coloured the same as ratings when you open the trade window? It has the position plus S and P with those little balls coloured from red to blue? I can't seem to find some explanation from the pop-up help about it

S = starter, P = prospects
Blue = Excellent Green = Good Yellow = Average Red = Weak |

Correct me if I'm wrong, but
Blue = Top 6 Green = 7-12 Yellow = 13-18 Red = Below 18 Yellow might stretch back further, but that's the general ballpark. |

if i am 100% certain i will get a decent player in return, i'll use 'shop' fojr a fast and easy result. always 'discuss' it and get more or other trade configurations etc with that team after shopping... otherwise i'll flip through the teams (those color-coded balls) or use the report to find what teams have a weakness at that position (or even secondary position for some players). same color coding. if it's red they have a severe defeciency. if it's green they have a good player, etc. obviously they will give more if their current starter and prospects are terrible. demand depends on position too... lots of factors to consider as far as what to expect in return. Yeah, there's a "Strength Overview" page where it ranks your MLB roster at each position and your prospects at each position. Useful to see where you're lacking.
