Any advice to gain consistent wins in simulations?
I started a historical 1871 league using real players with random debuts and I have been controlling my team games since the start of the season. I kinda wonder why my wins aren't consistent compared to manually controlling the team and scores are kinda erratic like I managed to play a game where I scored 27 and my opponent scored 24 then other games are just under 20s.
Any advice on ensuring consistent winning in simulating the games? Also I noticed that a lot of errors are being committed by my players like there are 9 errors per game or something. I was gonna try and post some screenies but I played the game on my macbook so I had some trouble trying to get some screenies. |

sounds like some settings are potentially whacky. i'd look for a thread on setting up historical leagues and compare what you did differently.
i don't play around with historical leagues. oh and to win, have a better team than the rest of the league... lol simple stuff, eh? if you don't win with 'your' type of player... change your type. Last edited by NoOne; 06-18-2015 at 08:48 PM. |

As for the errors, you have to keep in mind that they had very primitive gloves (or maybe not even any gloves, idk?) back in those days.

Ok, my concerns, how to properly assess my team and their performance. Some have high OBP and ERA is good, WAR is good but I don't know what other stats to look at. Also the other thing that confuses me is their performance in comparison to their stats. Like I got some who are almost on green or very mediocre batting ratings but their stats are super good and they have been performing well. |

In the game, when you play with a historical era like pre 1910, you will get a lot of errors because equipment and field conditions were not up to par like they are today. Like the "Looks like it hit a rock" error was far more common back in the day. The game looks at the year you are playing and factors in the amount of errors for that year and then I believe will adjust your player's fielding skill to mirror the league play of the era. For example, if an average shortstop in say 1891 average 70 errors and your shortstop import as high fielding, you may get him down to 50. I do not know the exact coding that is used but just speaking in vague generalities.
