What are your 2015 draftee stories

Since the OOTP quickstart has most of the players in the MLB draft in it, I'm interested in where the various players turned out in your alternative baseball realities.

My best story is below: I took Everett in the 2015 draft, and after a so-so first two pro years ... well look at that 2017 season. And then consider that I decided against promoting him straight from AA ... and missed the playoffs by one game.

What are your stories?

i took Brady Aiken 6th or 7th with the Red Sox. He took awhile to be pro ready and when he finally was, he wasnt that good. Had a good first year as a starter ERA in the high 3s. Then year 2 he was low 5s. Year 3 he was High 5s on June 1, so I moved him to the bullpen. He was a good bullpen guy for the rest of his arb years but not what you expect from a top 10 pick

I'm only at the beginning of May in my 2nd year. My 3rd round pick, Stephen Kolek, was 9-0 with a .24 ERA and around 100 strikeouts in about 60 innings. I also got Kep Brown in the 4th round and hit just shy of .300 with 16 homeruns. And Mariano Rivera Jr. didn't give up an earned run out of the bullpen and I got him in the 15th round. Granted all 3 were at in the gulf league, but I have high hopes for them. (I started another league, and I saw that Brown is now out for the year with the updated rosters) Kolek was named in the top 20 on the 100 best prospects list. Koby Allard, my first pick was in the top 10.

.24 of 2.4??

Kolek was good in my sim too. I also had Kyle Tucker and he was a beast. Funny thing about Kolek though is I don't think he is going to be drafted this year, yet is a five star potential in the game. I actually noticed a lot of the Red Sox picks IRL aren't that highly rated in the database, and a few don't even exist.

Brady Aiken was good in my game. He's actually had a pretty good career. Boston took him in mine, and then I eventually signed or traded for him (can't remember). Had to give him up though because at 30 he wanted a 9 year contract at 24m+

I drafted Ke'Bryan Hayes late in the first round as the O's and by the time he was done with his half a year he was in Low A ball. I also got Mariano Rivera Jr. and I don't think he allowed an earned run in Rookie ball.

I took Brady Aiken and he struggled as a starter so I put him in the bullpen and eventually became one of the games best closers.

In another league I took Trenton Clark and he was a steady 320 hitter and eventually signed with another team for over a 100 mil.

In real life I think Aiken is the biggest question mark because of his tommy john surgery. Clark has a chance to be the real deal like in my fiction league.

With my current expansion Expos I had the second pick in the 2015 draft. I had my eye on Brendan Rodgers, but he went #1. For my pick, I settled on Kolby Allard. I started second guessing myself immediately. It only got worse as he was not very impressive in the minors. I finally figured I got to see what he has got and called him up and he quickly settled into the ace role. I am currently in 2029 and Allard is following up winning the Cy Young last year with a 22-3 season this year where he will certainly be winning his second Cy Young and I think he should be MVP (I am about a week away from awards right now.). Unfortunately he got hurt mid-September with a 3-4 month injury. I also lost my #3 starter and all-star CF late in the season through the playoffs leading to losing to the Padres in 6 in the NLCS.

Everett has been a first round pick in all the drafts I've simmed, which seems to jibe with what I've read about him in real life: a first round talent. Imagine my joy to see my Brewers select him in the 29th round... until I read that he's very likely to go to Vanderbilt, for which I don't blame him one bit.

Sweet! I am also playing as an expansion '15 Expos

Where did you place them division wise?

I had the option to select Ryan 1st overall and was very tempted. His bonus demand would have killed me though ($10 mil)......so I went with Kolby Allard!

Here are my top 5 plus others that have made it to the bigs.

I am currently in the middle of 2020:

#1 Kolby Allard SP-----may have rushed him early out of rookie ball.....he is currently in his rookie year in my pen as a mid-season callup

#2 John Aiello SS----fantastic defender with good contact....his power is rounding out....in his 3rd season and developing in to an all-star

#3 Stephen Kolek SP----developed quickly....last year was his rookie season which was rocky but showed promise....this year he has been a solid SP with an ERA in and around 3.50

#4 Andrew Pagnozzi SP----decent stats....has made it to AA...potential appears to be limited

#5 Hunter Bowling SP-----see above...might have a bit more then Pagnozzi

#7 Eli Marrero C-----brought him to camp this year to compete for backup catcher spot.....is now my starter and having a fantastic rookie season....potential appears limited but I will ride his defence for as long as I can

#24 Elijah MacNamee RF----power hitting RF who can play either corner spot well----raced through the system....debuted as a mid-season rookie last year...sent back down......made the team again this year and is producing nicely....potential is not yet filled and he is looking good

Meh. a low ERA with great defense behind him (and good luck) in a sample size of 20 IP. Not too great if you ask me

I GOT HIM IN MY PHILLIES. Messed up and promoted him straight from AA but the next season he pitched like a solid 2 or 3 and should only improve.

It's not the ML stats ... it's starting the season in low-A and getting better as he climbed every rung of the ladder before getting thrown into a pennant race at the ML level. Not too common an occurence, IME.

Don't give up yet ... he seems a pretty firm commit, but you never know. It's one thing to turn down the majors in theory, another when Doug Melvin actually hands you a check for $2 million and invites you to deposit it. Wouldn't be the first. Don't know if the Brewers will have that much overslot money, though.
