Ambidextrous/Switch Pitchers
With Pat Venditte making his MLB debut and being the first switch pitcher in MLB history, when will we see this in OOTP?

imagine a quality starter that could do that. so, they could feasibly pitch 5 of 7 games or 4 of 5 games in a playoff series.

Switch pitching doesn't work that way. Because Venditte's legs still get tired no matter which side he pitches from, he can't reasonably start on 2 days rest.

Two days, no, but he does require less rest than others. Plus he could have a minor soreness or arm injury and one arm and just use the other.

It's likely an injury to one arm, even minor soreness, would stop him from pitching. The off arm does work in pitching. Throwing with the left, while the right is injured or sore, would create an imbalance that would make it more likely to injure the left arm.

The reason why Venditte can't pitch every couple of days is that he would be out of the water too long: Newspaper celebrates MLB's first amphibious pitcher - SBNation.com

better check your minor leagues ... he would be in that. I have found players in the minors who I have traded for are just now making their debut this season. I do not know how they would list him in the game or database as to him throwing both or not. Although I should see how he did in my solo league as I am in season 2033 now.

A couple of previous Venditte threads have pondered how switch pitching can be reflected in the game. A full-fledged addition of the feature would probably be too much effort for the value added, but it seems to me that an RHP with higher ratings against lefties than righties (or a vice versa LHP) would be reasonably accurate.

Whilst there's nothing we can do about switch pitching. I'm pretty sure in the editor I put him as a switch hitter(which he does IRL).
@r0nster Is that an screenshot taken from an old patch? Last edited by Doc_Brown; 06-09-2015 at 06:43 PM. |
