Players from all over USA appearing in league set in one state

I'm noticing something that seems off to me.

I've created a fictional league that's set in Pennsylvania. On the Basic League Settings screen, the Region is set to "US State: Pennsylvania."

The original players in the league were all Pennsylvanians, but the draft classes have included players from all over the USA. Should that be happening? I thought I'd get players with home towns in PA.

I'm playing OOTP15, but I'm not sure if it's an issue that's exclusive to that version. I posted here, too, because this thread gets a lot more traffic (understandably so).

I'm using one of Questdog's name sets, but I wouldn't think that would make a difference.

Any idea what's happening? Thanks in advance.

Go to the players screen in league setup or in the advanced league wizard if you're still creating your league.

Click edit by default player origin
click match team nation distribution
Then change the nations to 100% american (flag) and 0% random

That should do it for you.

Thanks for the suggestion, ra7c7er. I tried that (they were set to 99.00%, not 100%), and advanced the season far enough to generate a new draft class.

I still had players from all over the country, not just Pennsylvania.

It's not a big deal, but it's something I'd rather get exactly right.

Not sure what to tell you then. I've been playing and using single state leagues since OOTP14 and that's how it's supposed to work. I even just made a test league and simmed 3 years and it created players correctly.

Maybe someone will come on and have something else to try.

And after I read your last reply, I made a test league, and set the percentages to 100%...

...and the first player I clicked on was from Indiana.

Anyway, thanks for your help.

Maybe try this...
In Game Settings, Rules tab, set Foreign Players on Active Roster to No Foreigners allowed...

How big is this league? How many minor league levels?

I have 10 teams, with three minor league levels (AAA, AA, A). I saw this problem occur with my initial draft class, though, and at that point I had only one level of minors.

I'm giving this a try. I'm mid-season, so it might not take effect until the next draft class comes in.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys.

I just wondered if it was a league size issue. I thought I remembered someone else posting about this in the past. I've run several Gulf State setups and I've never had a problem. But, these leagues were small with reserve rosters.

The new draft class came in with "Unknown" as their home town. I guess that's a step in the right direction. They went to college and high school in all kinds of different places, though.

I still don't understand why the players don't get PA home towns, like the players who were available when the league was created.

Thanks for your continued help.

The United States. The individual US states aren't options here, or I'd try setting it to Pennsylvania.

There's a world mod somewhere on OOTPMods that makes the states in the U.S. become countries. You'll probably have to make a backup of the original world file for later use, but I think that might help your situation.

Thanks for the suggestion, dishnet34. I looked around for it, and unless I missed something, it's not available anymore. I used it a few versions ago, as I recall, and liked it.

I managed to get a draft class with home towns in the right part of the country by using the setting "US REGION: Northeast." That's a step in the right direction.

When I asked that last question I was thinking of a league I set up using the States as Nations mod... Guess I don't really know how the game works using the US as a parent league then using a Region set as a state... Don't think I ever tried that before...

I just made up a 4 team league with USA as parent Nation and US State:Texas as the region... No foreigners allowed... Simmed two years... All initial players were from Texas and all new players in the drafts are from Texas... Maybe something got corrupted in your files... I also use QD names mod...

Here is the link to that States as Nations mod... I worked with Bottom of the Sixth on this mod... It should work in v15... I think I tried in v15 once... Be sure to backup your files before you use it...

I switched the region back to "US State: Pennsylvania" and got a draft class with nothing but Pennsylvanians.

I'm not sure what happened, but I'll take the result. Good thing I was planning on quickly establishing a history for my league before I began my dynasty story, because I rolled through about a decade trying to figure this out.

Thank you to those of you who offered assistance. Once again, you confirm my belief that this is a great group of people.
