What am I doing wrong?

Spritze, jays and Darnoff all advised on how to go about doing this. But I've tried and multiple times what I'm trying to accomplish is not coming out correctly.

What I am trying to do is start a historical dynasty, beginning in 1901. Wipe all history so all players and teams start from scratch.

Have free agency and an annual draft always be turned on. With the financials reflecting the actual year (1901 for example salary of 2000, ticket price of 0.70, etc) and as the league processes so does the financials and teams have their own history becoming big market, small market, etc.

So far all normal. Here is where I deviate.

I want stats and game play and strategy to all be reflective of modern day. Home run leader has 40-50 hr. Closers with 30-40 saves. 5 man rotations. Very few complete games. Etc. so the historical players skills and ratings will obviously be reflective of this and they will perform to those statistical outputs.

First attempt, I couldn't figure out how to set it up so the players imported all with 20 stamina for sp and no one above 5 hr power as a hitter. 2nd attempt got it set up correctly but I couldn't segregate the league stats/modifiers from financials. Got that worked out.

So 3rd attempt I have the financials correct. I have the league modifiers and totals correct. I play out the year. League leader has 7 home runs. And pitchers finish with 25 complete games. Saves oddly enough look ok but batting average is way high as is era.

4th attempt, I copy darnoffs settings exactly and again stats just are not correct.

What am I doing wrong? I have spent 5 hours last night and another 3 this morning trying to get this to work. I'm about to say screw it and scrap the idea but I am really excited to do this and would really like to set it up.

I know I am asking a lot but the ootp community has always been amazing. Can anyone please help?

I'd say its pretty obvious you don't have league modifiers and totals correct if you are coming up with deadball numbers...

Can you post some screenshots of your league settings screens? Because this is actually pretty easy so I have no idea where you're tripping up.

This are the ones I used for my 4th attempt. Literally directly copied from Darnoff who inspired me for this idea. He has a dynasty posted on the forums "What if MLB alternative history". The only difference between what he is doing and what I am attempting to do is he has no financials or free agency or draft.

But his stats, if you look at 1901 (page 11 or 12) are what I am hoping for. Instead, my league leaders had 7 HR at the end of the year and league leading pitcher had 26 CG

Let me know if you need any other settings, but I figured this is what you were looking for

Need to see your player creation modifiers, too. I'm guessing they are set to 1901 style for some reason.

Also need to see the other side of the Stats and Ai screen that has the rotation settings, etc.

If after that, we can't get it figured out, then I'll build you a quick start myself. Level Playing Field leagues are kind of my trademark around here.

I just ran a fast sim of 1902 using 2012 modifiers. Jimmy Collins hit 56 home runs, Socks Siebold hit 54, Ed Delahanty 49 and Jim Hickman hit 48. The saves leader had 31. The leader in complete games had 8, followed by 7 and 6. High team complete games was 18.

Started a historical league. After it was formed and I held my fantasy draft, I made sure the box for box for "automatically adjust league totals modifiers for accuracy was checked" I then selected 2012 in the box for league modifiers. Once the game ran the calculations, I unchecked the box(important to uncheck the box, or when you get to opening day the game is going to import the actual years modifiers.

One other thing you might want to do is to go to the players sections and manually change the player creation modifiers. In the league I ran, they were all set to 1.000. I got this by choosing 2012 under import settings, but doing this also changed financials to modern day, so you don't want to do that.

Those are all the settings I believe you asked for. Let me know if you need anything else.

Certainly don't want you having to create a league for me, but it sounds like David got what I was looking for so obviously I just have something set wrong. If you can point me in the right direction I should be ok...I hope

Yeah I think you just had one of your auto-import checkboxes still checked or something.

One thing you might want to think about is what stadiums you have the teams in too. I think what happened to you is what David described, and he is extremely knowledgeable. The stadiums is strictly a realism thing if you are playing games out. You don't want a guy hitting 45 with a home field Polo Grounds for example.

Give it another shot. You are on the right track was probably just a small error. You can 110% do what you are going for, so don't get frustrated. There is a lot of settings to be familiar with.

And if I did make you a league, it wouldn't be any sweat. I offered to do it, you didn't ask.

One thing I see. Once you have the PCM's installed for 2012, uncheck the "automatically update historical player creation modifiers" as well.

You want all of the players created for the duration of the universe to be created under the same settings as you will be playing a locked format. Otherwise players will be created differently throughout the years and it will throw off what you are looking to accomplish.

Edit 1901 worked

1902 though the draft class imported and no players had any power ratings. All were 1-2. And I followed what David said. All the player creations I manually changed to 1.000

Did you go all the way to the draft or just the announcement of the pool? Just thinking they may not have been scouted yet.

Extremely weird, though. I literally do this all the time.

Ugh! The test league I created is crashing when I try to proceed to the next season.

The stats are looking good. The setup is good. But the new players coming in aren't.
