Talking Quite an Inspiration-- Even if He is Digital

I just decided to draft this young man in the second round of the June Amateur Draft, and figured he must have the most tremendous underdog story in the history of professional baseball. "Blind Tom" Holland, went to the Ohio State School for the Blind, due to his apparent inability to see; however, he ended up becoming the 62nd overall pick in the MLB Draft. He is a true inspiration to all of us dreamers, overcoming a disability that prevents him from doing so much as seeing the ball while batting. Nonetheless, he boasted a .496 batting average during his senior year of high school! Quite appropriately, he has a Very High work ethic.

If baseball doesn't work out for him, he can become an umpire.

Probably a good knuckleball hitter, since I hear they tend to giggle at you when they go by.

"Tommy" Holland? Maybe he's deaf and mute, too.

Ain't got no distractions, plays by sense of smell. He can't hear no hecklers, hits that ball like hell That deaf, dumb and blind kid...sure plays some mean baseball...

I drafted a blind guy in one of my fictional leagues 7th overall back in ootp 14. Ended his career in the hall of fame finishing in the top 15 in batting average.

Three "thanks" expended in one thread. Look, they're not like M&Ms, you know? That's enough for one day. It takes effort for me to be that pleasant.

I don't see what's so funny about this.

True, considering the affliction. But I think we are laughing at a ridiculous juxtaposition offered by the game (and a couple of innocuous follow-up comments), not about blind people themselves.

I read about him when he was a high schooler. He said, "I have faith that the Lord will guide my talents." What kid of faith? All together...

Do you happen to have a picture of his stats and the school he went to? I hope my Tom turns out to have a similarly successful career!
