Sub League Names

When you guys don't play MLB style, and your set up is NOT regionally based, what do you name your sub leagues and/or divisions? I'm not creative enough to come up with anything good!

I'm not either. For my subleagues, I often go with my parents' last names and for divisions I usually do something directionally based even when it's not regional (i.e. North/South/East/West or Coast/Inland or Rural/City etc.)

I do people that come in pairs, Lewis & Clark, Bonnie & Clyde, Maddux & Glavine. For my divisions I use directions

I use made up last names mostly. Some of my leagues are set up geographically, and I use more descriptive subleague names like North East, Gulf, Plains, Lake.

Then sometimes I use symbols. For example, I have a league in Mexico whose subleagues are Eagle and Cactus. (Thought about using Eagle and Snake, but the Eagle is clearly eating the Snake and I wanted to keep things level.) Sometimes I use national colors (Red, White and Blue for France). Sometimes Rivers (Colorado River League, Mississippi River League).

I use similar conventions for divisions, too.

I go with Union League, Federal Lesgue. Intercontinental league, Continental League, Caribbean league. Of course depending on how big and the region that your league is made off, northwest division, Southwest division, Midwest division, Central division, North East division, South East division, also I've done confederate league,

In Virginia League Baseball, I created the Colonial and Capital leagues, and went with North and South divisions. Stuck with a military/bureaucracy theme throughout.

I think it's worked out pretty well.

Great topic! Most recently, I used last names of historically great players from a previous game (Stanley and Casstevens). My question is what do you do for logos in this case, just leave the default OOTP ones?

I never do custom logos for my leagues or subleagues. Don't know why, really, as I make all of my own logos, caps, and unis for my teams.

Hmm.

Could always call them for favorite players - Babe Ruth league and Henry Aaron League, or for Presidents, for artists - Da Vinci and Picasso, Beatles and Rolling Stones. Or call one Middle Earth and the other The Federation or Narnia.

I didn't even know you could do logos for sub-leagues. Ugh now I'm going to pay attention to it constantly.

As far as I know, the only place they ever show up is in the all star game. So I've never bothered.

In the past I've used regional/directional names such North, South, East, West or Atlantic, Pacific, Gulf, Dairy, Heartland, etc. In my current league I use descriptive names such as Metropolitan and Cosmopolitan because my fictional teams play in metropolitan cities. If I add extra sub leagues in the future I'd most likely name them Urban, Civic or something else that describes big city living. Also, I like to call my sub leagues 'Circuit' instead of 'League' or 'Association' simply because it's different from what I'm used to seeing in real life. What you name your sub league is really left up to your imagination.
