What?! , aw hell naw, why?!?

Just downloaded the new patch, 1st thing I see is my png stadium file I spent a few hours on for eye candy no longer works. My stadium is now back to looking like the default one. I have no software to open the webp file, and I have no idea how it works. I had a back up copy of my png file saved just for this purpose, but it no longer works. I select it, and it doesn't change the stadium to look like what I want, it stays the same. If anyone has any idea how to fix this or can explain what I can do with the webp file, I would definetly appreciate it. I don't have time for this stress, there is baseball to be played!!., So anyway, I would like to say thank you to all the fine men and women who have served in the armed forces . It is from your sacrifice that I am allowed to complain about something so petty and small. I promise you, I am eternally grateful, and hope that you are aware that there are those of us who know we owe you a great debt. Again, thank you and God bless.

I didn't work on the conversion to webp, but if the png isn't working in-game, you can always use a utility to convert your png file to a wepb file. There's a few online which should work (https://developers.google.com/speed/...cs/precompiled, Convert images to WebP, Online WebP Converter). If that doesn't work please let us know again and we can look into it further.

Will this be the default? Will we have to convert all our images?

I don't want to have to reload all my park images.

My park images still work, though mine are .jpg files.

Try moving all the default park images into a different folder, leaving only your custom ones in the ballparks folder, then re-load them in-game.

To make sure we are all on the same page, I am talking about the png file that is for 3D stadiums

As far as I'm aware, all the old formats should be supported as well. The main reason to support webp was to reduce the download size of the game.

If your custom one had the same name as the default image file, then you may need to use the tricks above, but as mentioned, moving the images around should hopefully solve any problems

Right, I always forget about 3D stadiums. My suggestion still stands, though. Try making sure that your custom image is the only one in the default folder. I've had some problems with park images in the past, and that's always fixed it.

I moved the webp files from the park folder, and model folder as well to see if I could get my png file to work. It didn't, I could see the bleachers but the stadium surroundings and field were just a black shadow. I also put the files back and tried again to load my png file, it no longer works. The stadium did reload the default stadium back correctly though. Hopefully we find a way to fix this? I don't see how converting my png file to webp is going to work. Some of the artwork on the png file for a 3d stadium has to be done upside down, backwards, etc... the webp file just looks like a stadium photo for 2D. Thoughts? Ball flight in 3D is now broken also.

I recommend Irfanview. The latest version 4.38 supports WEBP files. You might need to install their plugin after installing the program though.

IrfanView - Official Homepage - one of the most popular viewers worldwide

Click on Plugins. Just download and install the top one. It works for me.

My apologies, the file I have been discussing is NOT a png file, it is the obj file. The obj file is the one I modded for 3D stadium that no longer works. I tried the app you mentioned and do like it , I shall play around with it. For now it appears that the obj file to edit 3D parks has been broken by the patch.

Hey Drayjones007,
would it be ok for you to upload your stadium here by zipping the folder with the obj, mtl and the texutures in it, so I can see where the Problem is.
PNG should work like before like all formats that have worked before. WebP is just a new supported image format.

all I modified was the actual obj file. It worked for changing things in the game like scoreboard, stuff on the wall. etc. I have attempted to show you the example

tried to upload a bigger sample. Some of the file is spotty colored, this was me searching for its location as to where it would show up in the stadium. Since I couldn't see it from the game play point of view, I just left it as is. Hope this gives you an idea of what I did. Yes, this would work and show up on my stadiums.

as stated before, this file I have enclosed is all I used to change turner field. I put it in the turner field/model/ballparks folder and then ingame, I select 3d model, then open up the above directory, and pick this file as the object file. It has worked fine until the last patch. There are no materials files needed.i attempted to zip the file and for some reason it didn't work. the file size is 4096x4096 before zipping?, I don't know. The image can be saved and resized to that and used. I don't know how else to give you what you seek.

Hey Drayjones007,
then the reason why it doesn't work is simply because the format of the image file doesn't match the format in the .mtl file.
In the second paragraph the "turner_field.mtl" looks like:

newmtl AtlantaBraves_turner_field.png
Ns 96.078431
Ka 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000
Kd 0.800000 0.800000 0.800000
Ks 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000
Ni 1.000000
d 0.000000
illum 1
map_Kd turner_field.png
map_d turner_field.png

Where

map_Kd turner_field.png
map_d turner_field.png

are the images ootp looks for and it is ".png" to stay compatible with the previos version of OOTP16 where all these textures have been PNG files.
Internally OOTP16 allways looks for a .webp file with the same name like the PNG file in the .mtl file.
So to make it work, you can simply change the texture names from

map_Kd turner_field.png
map_d turner_field.png

to

map_Kd turner_field.jpg
map_d turner_field.jpg

or you can convert your jpg to png or webp or simply use the following

Awesome! Thank you very much. Did you load my stadium and look at it? Was it pretty cool or pretty ugly to you? Lol. I like it, and hope you do
