Minor League System Report: Overmatched vs. Not Ready?
I've always wondered about this. Here is an example showing what I'm talking about.
What is the difference? This is my Double-A team and it shows one guy saying he is not ready for that level and another guy is over-matched for that level. Does anyone know how these two are different? |

I'm not certain, but I've always taken them to mean "not ready" and "probably not ready".

Yes, "over-matched" is supposed to mean he is going to get his butt handed to him by the competition and "not ready" means he will probably not do well, but you never know.

I always took it like this
Overmatched - Guy isn't good enough for that level nore do we think he'll ever compete at that level Not Ready - Guys not ready for that level but he's probably close. Which I guess isn't that far off? At least people smarter then me have answered correctly. |

the statement that includes 'probably' means he is close. the other is a more definitive statement.

Hahahaha
This continues to be confusing. Some people say one thing, others say the opposite. Would be nice if someone from the dev team could clear it up... |

I'm sure Questdog is correct. I just wanted to point out what I always took it to mean before this point. Granted I'll still be using my way to move players around.

If you play with ratings on, then just compare the player's ratings to those already in the league you are thinking of promoting him to. You should be able to tell whether he will fit in or not. |

If I have a 29 year old that's "not ready" for AA, he should get ready for a real job. Truth be told, they're usually out of my organization by then

edit: i just noticed. it's the defense why the one guy is 'not ready.' their offense numbers shown look fine, but that guy is a 35 defense. it's the only thing visible that would be considered low for that level for those two players. if they wrote those lines using good english, one sentence is definite, and one is not (hence use of 'probably'). that can sometimes be a big 'if.' trust how it works, not what it says i guess. if it works for you, keep doing it. if they hadn't switched from "overmatched" to "not ready" it would be more clear, i think. he is over matched, and he is probably overmatched - or - he is not ready, and he is probably not ready. not ready and overmatched are essentially synonymous, relative to the context in the game. again, that is if those 2 sentences are written in a grammatically correct and purposeful way. computer programmers aren't known for their grammar. yeah no doubt! lol. i keep the best career minor leaguers to surround my real prospects - i dont even care if they are a little too good for the league level. it doesn't happen too much due to yearly turnover. i let them go once i have to pay them.
