If you're having so much trouble, just set up a league and play the game.

This isn't "OOTP League Setup 16" its baseball. Just play some baseball and stop worrying so much in the course of a few games that stuff might be wrong.

I simmed out the season, and it was exactly what I feared. The output was incredibly off. I must have accidently choosen the wrong year? (according to Baseball Reference I shouldn't have been so far off even if I had picked '46 or '44)
I'm going to reload the template and play with stuff. See if I can get it right.

Why don't you save what you have right now as a quickstart so I can put it in my game and look at it?

Honestly, the easiest way would be for you to start the league out of your template, save it as a quickstart immediately after it starts, and then go into your quickstart_games directory, find the folder for that game, and zip that folder up and email it to me.

Okay, I'm embarrassed to admit, but I don't have a program to "zip" or "unzip" files. I'm not really all that tech savy.

Okay, I think I've figured it out. For some reason the player creation modifiers didn't update. I've adjusted stuff and simmed a few seasons and the numbers are looking about what I would expect now.
Ironically I'm not quite as happy with it as I would have thought, now there seems to be too few strike outs

Gonna adjust years a little more.
Sorry for my outbursts. I guess I should have "test run" the league a few seasons before I started playing. Live and learn!

It wasn't an "outburst" -- you just legitimately sounded like you weren't having fun. There's nothing wrong with something being too tough to setup until you understand the inner workings better...

I'm seriously considering putting a fictional quickstart together again... I'm not going to do how I used to and make all kinds of starts, but I can probably put together one really good fictional setup for those that just want to pick up and play without pulling their hair out.

I'd like an update on your league after you have some time into it. I always play as a Great Lakes league too.

I always set up my league but make it 20 years in the past. After setup, I choose a team that I want and sim 20 years to present time. That way I am forced to take over a team regardless of how good/bad they are.

I will update you as I move along. Maybe I will start a dynasty thread on this league.
It will start with 12 teams, 6 in each league. No DH, No Interleague. 1954 financials, 1945 player modifiers. 5 levels of minors. I've set up a college feeder with actual NCAA Div I teams, and a High School feeder, with 2 allstar teams from each state in the region. These will feed the draft.
Plan on taking over a team right from inaugural draft. Toying with the idea of not allowing free agency, at least not for awhile. Allow for some dynasties.
Will begin the league in 1995, under the guise of a alternative league born from frustration over the 1994 strike and cancellation of WS.
I need to test sim some more settings to make sure everything works right, but I'll let you know if I start a thread on this league, not littered with my questions and crap!

When you are starting to begin dynasty posts, you should just add a link to your dynasty thread in your signature, like me. I can show you how to do it if you aren't sure how, when the time comes.

If you ever do create that fictional quickstart I'd be most grateful if you shared it. I've been reading posts about the setups and it seems a bit overwhelming.
