How do you use Tag Controls

Just curious, what are Tag Control check boxes used for under Rosters/Views?

Which deftly avoids the question 'What is Tag Control?'. I have OOTP15, and I have tried a number of ways to use 'Tag Control' and it doesn't seem to do anything practical. All it seems to do is 'tag' or 'un-tag' players. I went to the online manual for OOTP15 and searched for 'Tag Control' and whereas, it knew what control was, it has no idea what tag is. I read this thread and the three other desperate threads asking about 'Tag Control' and the closet thing to an explanation was this thread. So, I went back on the online manual and typed in 'Mass Selection'. This time, the online manual was befuddled by the term 'Mass Selection'.
My question is, is there anyone on this forum who knows what 'Tag Control' does and will explain it. Thank you for your consideration.

If it is mass selection, I've used check boxes. I have no idea if the check boxes are called tags or tag controls. When I've wanted to mass select free agents so I can delete a bunch at a time, I mass select a lot of boxes, then choose delete and it deletes not one but all the checked players.
