The day after DiMaggios' streak ended he went on another 16 game steak so thats 72 hits in 73 games.

@ James how did you get it to display more than 6 to 7 players like that ??? Interesting to learn that we might be able to display more players than the default .. Would love to know how.

In 1925 Joe Sewell struck out 4 times in 699 plate appearances (608 at bats).
Let's see someone break that record.

His career record of a strike out every 63 at bats will never be broken.

I don't think anyone will ever get anywhere near Ripken, especially in this environment. I also don't think anyone is going to throw eight no-hitter or touch Ryan's career strikeout totals, either.

Of course, they said that about Gehrig's record until Ripken came along, so I suppose anything is possible. Except somebody breaking Cy Young's win record. Unless pitchers suddenly all turn into Old Hoss Radbourn some time in the future, that one's not going away, ever. |

In my solo league Jose Fernandez has 5775 strikeouts and 398 wins one season he had 401 strikeouts and that record is 410 by a real player in the 1800s. He is in his last season and is falling apart this season in 2032 age 39

The real record is 513 by Matt Kilroy.....but the way strikeouts are going up every year, this one may go by the wayside in the next 50 years, unless they start not allowing any pitchers to face 500 batters in a season to protect their precious little arms.....

OUCH dog I didn't know that I thought the record was 414 but then I know that this game doesn't have all the records corrected yet. I remember that issue years ago. I used to think Ryan had the record of 383 but then I realized that was the 20th century mark but didn't go back to the 19th

Johnny Vander Meer's two straight no hitters. No one will ever throw three in a row.

Even for that era, when players generally struck out less, that is a truly amazing feat.

It's pleasant to think that my great-uncle Joe will always be in the record book. In computer games, I've discovered, he never comes close to his real life record of avoiding strikeouts.

I like to think that if Tim Lincecum had not lost his stuff he would've challenged Ryan's no-hit records. |

Considering there isn't an active player within 2,000 games of Ripken, maybe my grandkids will see it. I certainly won't at nearly 37 years of age.
