Training/developing a certain skill

Is it possible to have your player train/develop a certain skill?

For example, I'm playing as the Cubs and I want Kris Bryant to work on his Avoid Ks skill. Is there a way I can get him to focus on this (or another example, get C. J. Edwards to work on his stamina so he can be a starter), or is it not possible to set specific train regimes?

Thanks

Short answer is no but it would be a great addition to 17

There used to be many many versions ago but it is long gone. You had so many training points to use during spring training with the default being the points spread evenly for each player. You could reallocate points to increase training time to one aspect or aspects while potentially hurting the others. For example, everyone would drop power to zero and use those points for contact and eye for the fastest guy on your team and voila, you have the makings of a great new lead off hitter. It felt too arcade-y and was too easy to "game". It was replaced by expanding the coaches role. For now, pick up good hitting coaches and pitching coaches and hope for the best, but you can not decide specifically what they will work on.

This would be a nice option, but it would feel too "Madden-esque" for a simulation.

I always looked at the "points" as essentially just being time. You can allocate the same amount of time to all players for all things, or you can allocate extra time for a player to focus on a certain thing - but if you do, then that time has to be taken away from somewhere else.

I think where that model fell down was that the outcome was too obvious. It was too easy to for players to make huge strides. I wouldn't mind seeing this feature come back, but the player progression should be extremely small, to the point where you wonder if the allocation of time helped more than it hurt.

OR perhaps in the future, we might set a couple of players for our coaches to allocate a bit more training towards, say that pesky prospect or player who might need a little more attention.
