New player and new to the forum so if this is in the wrong thread please excuse.
Current 2015 MLB teams and rules. Will be expanding my fantasy league in a couple of seasons. Please pick my 4 expansion teams and the league you think they would fit best in AL or NL. Thank You. Oregon - Portland Mavericks or Oregon Timbers Louisiana - Gulf Coast Kings or New Orleans Rougarous Tennessee - Memphis Hound Dogs or Tennessee Smokies Calgary - Calgary Mounties or Calgary Canucks Montreal - Montreal Expos or Montreal Canadians

Portland Mavericks= NL (SEA doesn't want a team near them in the same league, and more consistent with pre-Selig history)
Montreal Expos= NL (of course) So, I'd then take Calgary (either) and New Orleans for the AL. I dunno what a Rougarous is (edit: never mind, I guess it's patois for werewolf) but I almost always pick New Orleans for a team. Great town! Call them NO, not Gulf Coast. There should be one more team I think, |

Portland Mavericks. With that documentary that came out not long ago about the old minor league team, a good choice. I like both Portland names, though.
New Orleans - Not a big fan of either name. Kings, if I have to pick. Memphis Hound Dogs. Thankyewverramuch! Montreal Expos. Bring 'em back! Portland and Montreal in the NL, NOLA & Memphis in the AL. Are you sticking with 3 divisions, or going to 4? |

The Portland Timbers is already the name of the soccer team. So, I vote for the Portland Mavericks, although the Portland Beavers was the name of the old PCL team. In 1901 and 1902 they were the Portland Webfoots where Joe Tinker played third base for one season.

New Orleans Kings would be interesting. With the team colors being yellow, green, and purple.

I think you need an NL team in Texas. I had a team called Austin Weird in a fantasy league. I picked that name because of the city's slogan, "Keep Austin Weird." San Antonio would be a great choice, too. You could pay tribute to the Alamo by naming the team San Antonio Defenders.

Just afew that you don;t seem to have and the uniforms exist for.
Portland Mist - forgot who had it but loved his logo and jersey. Also a fan of the Portland Mavericks. New Orleans Voodoo or Gators - Gern has some really cool Voodoo jerseys and Justafan and someone else has some really cool Gators jerseys.. Why Memphis over Nashville?

I dislike team names with states so I'd go with Portland Mavericks (AL), New Orleans Rougarous (NL), Memphis Hound Dogs (NL)
Also, Montreal Canadians (AL), trick the hockey fans into attending baseball games

Montreal Expos
Portland Mavericks ??Chinooks?? Calgary Mounties ?? Cougars?? Tennessee Smokies ??Memphis Marauders?? I think adding two western teams would make any divisional shuffling easier and more appealing. In 'real life' using hockey team names for pro baseball teams would not go over well in my opinion. |

The proper name is Montreal Canadiens, anyways, but I think it would be sacrilege to use that name for a baseball club. If I were picking a name for a baseball team in Montreal, I'd use either Expos, or could consider Habitants or Voyageurs (Habitants to steal the hockey name without stealing the hockey name, and Voyageurs as a nice traditional name that was a hockey team in the city for a few years).
Calgary I would suggest either Chinooks or Foothills. I'd use Rockies but someone has already claimed that Or you steal the football team and go with Stampeders.
