newbie
what's the difference when pitching to contact? around? how much rest do RP need? SP?

pitch around means the pitcher won't throw anything in/near the strike zone (obvious version: intentional walk; but can also be an unintentional - intentional walk, where they just throw high/low to see if the batter will chase). A disciplined batter will just take the walk if he can't get a good swing at any of 'em.
pitch to contact means the pitcher wants the batter to put it into play. (perhaps it's a groundball pitcher with a great defense behind him). |

when deciding if you would like to pitch around a batter I find that the pitcher's control rating makes a difference as in Low control rating likely to walk the hitter high control ratng not likely to walk. combine this with the batters eye/patience rating (high rating more likely to take a walk) to make your decision
