Cato History help please.
I promise I'm not being to lazy. I've search the board pretty well looking for the instructions on how to use Cato's history utility. Can anyone take the time to give me the best and easy way to set up this utility or steer me to the best information site or message threads so I can enjoy what looks like the best utility out there!
This would be for my fictional league that mimics the real thing, except of course real players. I've given it my best shot by the information I can find and I just don't get it. Any help would be greatly appriciated!! Rich

I feel pretty stupid about this but I'm stuck on the CSV exporter.
The History readme says follow the CSV exporter directions but I'm not getting it. This part: In Windows Explorer, bring up exporter.bat (right click and choose Edit). It'll look something like this: player.exe "c:\temp" "c:\temp" teams.exe "c:\temp" "c:\temp" schedule.exe "c:\temp" "c:\temp" pause I don't see anything in the exporter utilitys that says exporter.bat I'm also confused on what files I need to use. Can I get the files I need from Alamanac from previous season? Can I just use the current HTML for all ten years of my league? Big question I guess is how do I get the information I need into this exporter? And do I need the exporter? I also see that i can create CSV files from the game, but do I need them. I'm lost I guess, but I'm a going to get this damn it! lol : )

Okay first off...you need to find where you unzipped the Exporter to.
ON my system I created a folder I unzipped the exporter into it. I called this folder CJExp and it resides on C:\CJEXP... WHere you have unzipped the exporter you will notice 8 files and 1 read me. Now the first 3, Career_Exporter, Exporter, Park...are the .Bat files. These are the ones should hit edit on. On my system I have two hard drives..so I have a C and a D drive... In my exporter, once I right clicked and chose edit, l have it looking something like this: player.exe "D:\Program Files\400 Software Studios\OOTP5\Capital Baseball.lg" "c:\temp" teams.exe "D:\Program Files\400 Software Studios\OOTP5\Capital Baseball.lg" "c:\temp" schedule.exe "D:\Program Files\400 Software Studios\OOTP5\Capital Baseball.lg" "c:\temp" pause The first set in " is where the exporter in getting the info from...so basically this need to be where your league is at. The second set in " is where it will put the CSV's... Keep in mind on my system OOTP is on D drive. If you haven't already, start Cato's History utility..and create a new datebase. Once it is created, move the CSV's from the TEMP folder to the DATA folder of the History database you have just created. I could keep going but lets see if we can get you through this part first..before we move on...if you still need help. |

Thanks HC98 I got it! Very much appreciate the help.
The only things that's kind of a drag is that I can't get the first 10yrs of the league to work because I auto simmed them and didn't backup the league after every season. That's the only way to get those yrs to work, correct? I pretty sure you can't get them information needed through the Alamanac, right? Thanks again, Rich

Good...glad you got it to work...
You would be correct...without running the exporter for each season...you won't be able to add the previous years.... Don't feel bad...when I was first introduced to the History program I was 44 years in a Historic league.... |
