Playoff Tree (Mock-up)

I'm not a huge fan of the playoff tree. Between the grey boxes and how close all the text is. I put together the screen in a way that I think is easier to read and fits better.

It's a really rough mock-up (no Photoshop) and there's probably more someone could do, but I just thought I'd put it together for the fun of it.

(The AL would look better, as would the "Seed 1-2-3" and the trophy).

Stuff like this should likely go into the suggestions forum. I do agree that the playoff tree is getting a little stale. Especially when you also see that with the leaderboards team names are getting cut off. We can look to spruce it up at least for next year.

Yes, but that does not work with custom playoffs with many teams...

That's certainly true. (And it'd be even more so if my advanced playoff customization proposal is ever implemented.)

In that case I think a more plain, yet more accommodating of unusual playoff formats, onscreen display would need to used. Something like that used by the MILB.com web site, for example. Here's what it looked like for the 2013 California League playoffs. Note that the league's playoff format had six teams qualifying, with the first-half division winners getting a bye through the first round while the second-half division winners play the wild card team from their own division.

While the MILB.com's playoff screen isn't the fanciest, its approach has the advantage of being flexible, and as a result it can accommodate almost any playoff format.
