Hall of Fame voting is now one of my favorite features.

I made an Excel sheet of all the HoF statistical indicators as well as a formula that adds 10% to that total each ballot year. It's not perfect, but anyone who yielded above a 500 got my vote and (barring two snubs) was pretty right on! I love this! Now I can get to know all the best players in the simulation!

MLB 1901 sim Hall of Fame chart:

(Gold and bold means they got in, slanted and slate means they did not make the 5%. The other gold highlights are the totals that made the cut for my vote.)

Those 2 snubs should make it in in the next year or two. I'm guessing their black ink scores kept them out this year.

It made it more interesting to see how the rest of the league thought the first HoF class went. I will be tracking it year-to-year for my own love of stats anyway, haha.

Here are 1902 and 1903's addition. Only issue I have seen thus far was the sudden disappearance of Jack Manning despite not being dropped from the ballot in 1903? [Answered since below.] However, fun!

1902 starring Cap Anson:

1903, a down-ish year:

In a new game, players may not get the full time on the ballot. Manning retired in 1886, so he would have first shown up on the ballot in 1891 or 1892, meaning his last appearance on the ballot would be that 1902. I have to cut the search for players so the initial years of a new or imported league may have guys suddenly fall off the ballot before their "10" years.

Totally understood. Thanks for filling me in. Thanks for all the hard work.

Speaking of snubs, sorry Mr. McGuire and Bonds, but I refuse to vote you in.

This is going to sound like a stupid question, but what to black, gray, HOFS and HOFM stats mean?

Also, what are considered baselines for players being voted on for HOF induction?

Thanks.

Click on the question marks to find out . Otherwise you can see more background on them here: Leaderboard Glossary | Baseball-Reference.com.

Occasionally our numbers will differ slightly from what you see on BB ref, but we're definitely in the same ballpark.

Are the Hall of Fame indicators downloadable as a CSV? If not, how else do you get them into your spreadsheet?

I like this feature a lot too.
But can you change the year in which the hall of fame starts and the maximum players it will induct?
Like if i start in 1901 with complete history on, i dont want the HOF picking players in 1902.

I physically input them in there and then use a =SUM formula to get the totals. It seems anyone who totals above a 500 will get in within a few ballots, while those above 400 a but further out.

I add to the total by increasing 10 percent based on the number of ballots the player has been on. I have found it is a good indication of how long it will take before the player arrives in the Hall.

Anything above 500 either solid or adjusted gets my vote!

If you don't want it to happen for a few years, you can always disable the AI voting entirely for the first few seasons in the league options, and then re-enable it when you want it to start.

I was thinking it was something you couldnt change. That makes it simple.
