It was actually Billy Gilliam that Baker defeated, and he

Bob Baker was an often under-rated boxer. He was smart, had quick hands, threw combinations with accuracy and carried a pretty good wallop in either fist. In his second fight with Nino Valdes he relied a lot on a terrific left hook, at the end of a 2 or 3 punch combo, nailing the big Cuban again and again.
