Integrity of league

Hey everyone

If I suspected that someone was in control of multiple teams in an online league would there be anyway to check this?

The commissioner can do a little depending on the forum software.
Mainly it involves checking IPs and seeing if exports come from the same IP.

I would imagine there is a tool from the company hostong the league that allows IP tracking. The commish would have to figure out how to use it to track the teams exports that are uploaded to the league server.

Ok, but wouldn't the person who is cheating be able to get around this by operating from 2 completely different computers?

AFAIK no because your IP through your provider is the same, but one who wishes to cheat could simply go to a coffee shop and a different IP would show.

I think online league integrity is definitely something that should be looked at. Aside from the ability to have two teams, what's stopping the commish from gradually making a few rating changes? I'm just glad I'm in leagues where I trust my commish. Is there a way to create some checks and balances?

I don't know if it's been talked about or if it is possible, but what if there was a feature that sent out a league wide report when manual changes were made to attributes?

I seem to remember that was already in the game. I admit that my knowlege is not current. Also some leagues have "bonuses" that allow owners to have players edited.

I've been in leagues with the bonuses and never got anything aside from a regular development report

Or just use VPN software. There are plenty of stories where this has happened (running multiple teams without commish or others knowing), and the people are usually caught because they upload two teams from the same computer.

If someone really wanted to do this and get away with it, it wouldn't be that hard to do, though. I just don't get what the motivation to do this in an online league is - are there really leagues doing this for money or something tangible?

Sockpuppets aren't a big problem in OOTP, but they do happen.
