Don't close draft picks negotiations
One thing I would like added is if I am negotiating with a draft pick (or international player) and he rejects my offer and is upset and decides to "go back to school" or just not sign that I can still offer him a signing bonus or contract.
For example:
He initially requested a $2,000,000 signing bonus and I offered $1,500,000. He then says, "I'm insulted and refuse to talk to you any more. I'm going back to school." You no longer even have the ability to negotiate or offer him another contract.
I would still like to be able to try and win him over, even if he's "insulted." Maybe I decide not to sign my 2nd or 3rd round pick and use that alloted money on him and offer him a $4,000,000 signing bonus. That might make him change his mind.
