Can You Globally Regenerate Names For A Newly-Created League?

I have created a new Dynasty league, the State Line League.

I generated it with the default ethnicities info, which has more minorities in the database.

My new league is a semi-pro league set to begin in 1948 when there were very few Blacks, Hispanics and no Asian players. Those numbers will be increased as time goes by to fit modern day baseball.

I went into the database and changed the ethnic ratios to fit the time period.

QUESTION: Can I GLOBALLY regenerate the already-created league and get the game to use the new ethnic ratios.?

Or do I have to start over from scratch and create a new league?

No doubt there will be others more qualified than I am to comment on this, but I think you might have to start over.

I think you can re-import your world database, which might include a re-import of your ethnicities file.

And you can randomize all player names using a global function.

But I don't know that this will essentially recreate all of your players including their ethnic distributions. It might only rename them but leave their ethnicities intact.

If you tried deleting all of your players and then filling the league with new fictional players, that might be a solution, but that probably depends on whether or not you're running multiple levels of minors. OOTP will not recreate a full draft pool if you were planning on holding a draft. It only creates enough players to fill out all rosters at all levels, and this may not provide enough depth or future talent, particularly if you're only using reserve lists or or running only one or two levels of minors. If you're only using reserve lists, then I think that teams will only end up with a number of players equal to their roster limits.

Thanks for the help.

I will try to manually regenerate each individual minority name in the player editor and see if the new ethnic ratios kick in.

Do you think that might work?

If all fails, I may use this league as a test league to see if the stats are reliable for the time period. Then just delete and start a new league.

You could try that, but it might be a painstaking process, particularly if one ethnic group predominates. It might take quite a bit of random generation to see if things are shaping up to your expectations.

I would be inclined to use your league as a test project and create a new one, unless you've spent a lot of hours getting to this point.

I created some modified files that more accurately reflect real life racial and ethnic distributions across the decades, including many more surnames and a much more realistic ethnic and racial breakdown for Latin American countries. The result is a much more realistic world, but I made sure to do some test leagues first to make sure that everything was working well.

When you say you went into the database - do you mean you edited the ethnicities.txt file?

If so, go into your league setup, database, then Database Tools and select "reimport name and ethnicity database".

Be careful and do this with a copy of your league file. I did this once when I switched to questdogs name files and every player in my league had no city of origin/birth.

No, it only took a couple of hours to set this league up. It goes pretty quickly.

Thanks for the help.

Yes, I went in an edited the numbers in the ethnicities section of the game database. I reduced the Black numbers and Hispanic numbers and put the Asian number to zero.

Thanks for the help. I will try to re-import the database.

This is just a test league to set my stats. If it fouls up, it's no problem.
