Question about awards

If you notice this Player of the Year on the news clipping it's mentions what he accomplish during the season to win the award however if you notice in the second picture he also won the gold glove and not mention is that he also stole 76 bases. Why would it not mention that stole all those bases to lead the league nor mention he won the Gold Glove. I would think it shows even more why he was deserving

Padreman, you've been around long enough for me to assume that your question is rhetorical. The answer, of course, is that the programming has not been written yet in order to be that selective.

The program uses canned templates which basically vary the verbiage a bit but report on the same stats time after time for each category of award. For the batting award, it's what you see there; usually, stolen bases are not a big deal when talking about hitters so they did not include a stat that's likely to look lame for most hitters . . . "117 RBI's, 3 SB, . . ."

What I am trying to say is that as sophisticated as this game is at this point, it has not advanced far enough to be that selective. It will some day.

Same idea for not mentioning the GG in the POTY article. Two different templates written for two different types of awards. It's not there yet for the game to know to combine the two in an ad hoc fashion.

Don't think so. My impression is that the program takes those templates from the text entries in english.xml and populates them with the necessary data; name, team, stats, etc. Then it becomes part of the data stored in one of those .dat files and unless you are a programmer, you cannot open those up for easy editing. You can edit the templates in english.xml but not the finished product. And of course, you cannot do editing in advance for a situation like yours above, trying to anticipate which template the game will choose.

By the way, I was thinking about what I said. First, I did not mean to sound condescending. Not at all. Second, as a rhetorical question, it and lots of other ones like it are very important to ask. They provide impetus to moving this game forward. Thanks.

EDIT: This was wrong about not being able to edit news articles. See my next post.

Only up to a point, because I was wrong on that last bit about editing! I apologize.

I woke up this morning thinking about what I said and it came to me: I am a dummy! The only excuse I have is that I have not been playing in a while; I've been too busy with Minecraft.

Yes you can edit news articles. Go to your League menu and select News. This is the location where you can edit the news by clicking the Write/Edit button. When you are finished, just click someplace else and the changes will be saved.

EDIT: The yellow highlighting I did with a photo editing program just for this posting. The game does not include highlighting capability for news articles.
