1975 MLB Regular Season
![]() I know the preseason predictions had the Expos having a good season, but I wanted to make a prediction. I believe this Expo team is on the verge of becoming something great. They feature an outfield of Dave Parker, Fred Lynn and Ken Griffey. All three of those guys are capable of hitting over .300, with power. Griffey has already won a batting title, and has a lot of good years left. Rookie 1B Jason Thompson has made the team, and has 40 home run power . The pitching features Ron Guidry, and an underrated Randy Jones. They need better starting pitching to emerge, another 2 pitchers in the bullpen, and I believe they are a potential dynasty. ![]() ![]() ![]() The outfield that could be baseball's next dynasty The Cincinnati Reds Willie McCovey hit his 600th career home run early in the season becoming the 4th man to join the club. He will pass Babe Ruth’s 604 very soon, and has a good shot at Lou Gehrig’s 629. Willie McCovey is entering legendary status this year! ![]() 600 HOME RUNS!! Sandy Koufax has recovered from his injuries and returned to baseball at 39 years of age. He’s not the same pitcher though. In 73, before the accident, Koufax was still an ace. He won 15 games, posted a 2.51 ERA and a 6.8 WAR. The Twins won’t start him now. He’s in the bullpen, having pitched 33.1 innings during the first 2 months of the season, and has a 6.48 ERA. Koufax needs to retire. This accident pretty much took his ability to play baseball away. He’s older now, and he is bad. I’d love for him to play better, but is ratings won’t allow it… ![]() Koufax is nearing the end of a Hall of Fame career ![]() ![]() A blockbuster between an aging, but reigning MVP for a top 10 prospect. The Orioles trail the Yankees by 4.5 games in the AL east. They figure Oh can help make up that difference. Oh is having a pretty good season. He is putting up close to MVP numbers again. He hit 522 home runs in an Angel’s uniform. There’s no doubt he’ll be wearing that cap when he enters the Hall of Fame. Entering September, the AL is decided. Sadaharu Oh, the Orioles new leadoff hitter(4 home runs, 41 walks, 12 k’s in 45 games)has not been enough as the Yankees have pulled away with a 10 game lead. The White Sox lead the west by that same margin. The Reds will not be winning the NL west for the first time ever. SF leads Atlanta by 7 games, and looks safe. The only potential race is in the NL east. Philly is ahead at the moment, but Pittsburgh, NY and Montreal are all in striking distance. This story says it all….All Hail the Home Run King!!!! ![]() ![]() Entering the last week, the Pirates have closed the Phillies lead to 1 game. They play a 3 game series this week that will go a long way in deciding the NL east. In the series opener, the Pirates blow a 2 run ninth inning lead, when the Phillies Alex George hits a 3 run homer. 4-3 Phillies and a 2 game lead. The Pirates respond. Steve Kline throws a complete game, his 21st win of the year, allowing a single run in the 8th inning. Hal Breeden provided all the offense for Pittsburgh, with a bases loaded double. 3-1 Pirates, the lead is back to 1. In the finale, the Pirates turn the tables on Philly, down 2-0 in the bottom of the ninth, Pittsburgh scores 3 runs, highlighted by a 2 out game winning double by Orlando Cepeda. The NL east is now tied with 3 games remaining. ![]() WOW, not only have the Pirates tied the Phillies for the NL East, now the Mets and Expos are each just 2 games behind!! The Mets are in Philly for 3, Montreal is visiting Wrigley, and the Pirates are in St. Louis. Exciting……Here are the results ![]() Today makes things tighter. With only 2 games remaining, noone can afford a loss at this point. ![]() Montreal's loss eliminates them. The Pirates win and they are in, a loss means the winner of the final Met/Phillies game would play the Pirates in a playoff. ![]() We have a 1 game playoff!! NL EAST PLAYOFF ![]() Phillies starter, Jackie Brown has been a below average pitcher his whole career, going back and forth from the bullpen to the rotation. This is his 7th start of the season, and it does not go well. Brown gives up a run in the first, third, 2 in the fourth, and another in the fifth before he is pulled. Down 5-0, the Phillies do nothing until the ninth inning. They score 3 runs before Elrod Hendricks is thrown out trying to advance to 3rd for third and final out of the season. Pirates win the NL east. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

this is my favorite dynasty to follow. such great art work, from the unis, to the design of the posts, to ur write ups. great work. I know I speak for the majority when I say everyone here respects the time n effort that u have put into creating this fantastic world. u have really created an alternate history that u should b proud of... to think of all the great players to have wore the phillies pinstripes. ruth, gehrig, suttles, aaron, robinson, kaline, matthews, killebrew, yaz, rose, n I even think the mick n the say hey kid had a cup of coffee towards the tail end of their careers with the fightin's. I just wish we could have won a few more championships, then we could b considered the greatest franchise in this universe. this dynasty has made me hate the reds... keep it up.

The Phillies have had quite the roster, and you are forgetting the great Ed Delahanty as well!! The problem is of all those guys you mention, none of them have been pitchers, which is why they have to take a back seat to the Reds, in my opinion at least! |

![]() If the Giants win this series, they will the 7th different team to win the World Series in the last 7 years. So much for the dynasty. I think the Giants have the better team. Luzinski and Yeager in the middle of the order is deadly. Robin Yount batting 6th shows how strong the offense really is. I would take Catfish Hunter and Pete Broberg over any pitcher on the Giants any day of the week though. In a short series, those two can easily be the difference between winning and losing for NY. I also want to mention this is the first visit to the World Series since the Giants moved to San Francisco. |

![]() The Giants get to Pete Broberg early and often. 2 runs in the first. A Robin Yount homer in the second. Steve Yeager drives in a run in the third, and 3 runs in the fourth drive Broberg out of the game. The Yankees try, but cannot overcome the early 7-2 deficit, and the Giants take game one, 8-5. Giants starter Al Santorini is horrible. He walks 4, while giving up 3 hits in the first inning alone as NY jumps out to a 4-0 lead. The Giants respond with a Jim Spencer 3 run shot in the second to cut the lead to one. The teams each add 2 runs a piece, until the ninth, when triples from Thurman Munson and Joe Foy add 4 insurance runs. NY ties the series with a 10-5 win. Tony Perez hits a 2 run shot, and Ron Blomberg hits a 3 run homer, in the second inning, to give NY a 5-0 lead. The Yanks then score 7 runs in the sixth inning, keyed by a Joe Lahoud Grand Slam!! The Giants score 4 a piece in the seventh and ninth, but it’s not enough. Aces Rick Rhoden and Catfish Hunter get roughed up. Yankees win 13-8. Another low scoring affair in game 4. The Giants Lee Lacy leads the game off with a solo shot. The Yankees respond right away when Bob Oliver doubles home both Munson and Blomberg in the bottom of the first. Lee Lacy comes to bat with the bases loaded in the second, and hits his second homer of the game, a GRAND SLAM, and the Giants lead 5-2. The Giants score singles in the third, fourth and fifth, while the Yanks score 2 a piece in the third and fourth. Trailing 8-6 in the seventh, Keith Hernandez and Joe Lahoud hit back to back home runs to tie the game. Ken Bowsell then triples, and scores on a Thurman Munson single. Munson will also score, which proves to be the winning run in a 10-9 Yankees win. This series’ fantastic pitching carries over to game 5. Ron Blomberg hits a 2 run home run, and Tony Perez hits a GRAND SLAM, all in the first inning as the Yanks jump ahead 6-0. They score 4 more in the third inning, without recording a single hit. 6 walks and a sac fly do the damage, and it’s 10-1 NY. The Giants mount a comeback, because both teams have agreed to throw underhand from 25 feet at this point, and put up innings of 3 and 4 runs, but the Yankees hold on for the 13-8 win, and have repeated as World Series Champions!! ![]() ![]() Last edited by George_Bell; 12-06-2014 at 11:34 AM. |

I'm in a midst of a Padres dynsaty myself and Ron Blomberg is a beast. Yankees have won back to back around the same time the Reds started to get dominant....

1975-76 Offseason News and Notes
In October 1969, outfielder Curt Flood unsuccessfully challenged the reserve clause after he was traded. Flood sacrificed the remainder of his playing career to pursue this litigation. Flood's case established that the reserve clause was a legitimate basis for negotiation in collective bargaining between players and owners, and that the historic baseball antitrust exemption was valid for baseball only and not applicable to any other sport. Curt Flood unsuccessfully challenged the reserve clause in 1970, but Marvin Miller helped overturn it five years later in 1975. Removing the reserve clause from player contracts became the primary goal of negotiations between the Major League Baseball Players Association and the owners. The reserve clause was struck down in 1975 when arbitrator Peter Seitz ruled that since pitchers Andy Messersmith and Dave McNally played for one season without a contract, they could become free agents. This decision essentially dismantled the reserve clause and opened the door to widespread free agency. ![]() Flood began the fight against the reserve clause In game, the reserve clause option is now unchecked, and we are now playing with a modern day free agency system. Comp picks, arbitration, all that is now active. Not much of a free agent class, Buck Martinez, who has yet to play in the majors is the top talent available. I suspect this wont really be noticeable until next season. A very strong 1975 draft took place, and it's filled with names that could make a difference for a bunch of teams. At the top of the list, is new Milwaukee Brewers outfielder, Ricky Henderson. Henderson's speed sets him apart. There's alot of exciting names taken, so i won't mention anyone else, but what a great looking class. ![]() ![]() ![]() Another year came and went without a Hall of Fame induction, so i decided to go back and time, and induct someone that didn't go through after their original nomination. Joe Bauman probably should have been a Hall of Famer years ago. His power numbers put him in elite company, and should have been enough. Things have now been put right, and Bauman if a HOFer. A minor trade went down, but it certainly stood out to me. ![]() Randy Poffo eventually left baseball and became my favourite wrestler(as a kid, haven't watched since his era) and WWF Champion Macho Man Randy Savage!! I went in and edited his power! His other skills are pretty poor ![]() Future Champion Macho Man ![]() Joe Morgan isn't the same player the Mets traded to Cleveland. Injuries have hurt his bat, and his playing time, but he's still pretty effective when he's in the lineup. I think Fred Lynn is a star in game. Great talent. 44 year old Mickey Mantle is still playing. It’s been 4 years now since he played in the MLB, but I gotta believe this guy loves the game so much, he’s having a ball spending the last 3 years in Shreveport, playing with the Sports, the Phillies A team. In those 3 year, Mantle has .245, with 11 home runs and 101 RBI’s. His biggest asset is his eye though. He has drawn 289 walks, which still makes him very effective. A .445 OBP makes him a valuable piece for the club. Mantle will again be suiting up for the Sports in 1976!! ![]() The Phillies continue their tradition of adding impact bats. They acquire the former 3 time MVP Charlie Vinson. ![]() ![]() |

Tigers Farm System
Hey George, how is the Tigers farm system, seems to me they have made some questionable first round picks in at least the last two drafts.

As always great job!
You might want to use this method when it comes to Hall of Fame induction: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...me-voting.html In short, this method uses WAR to determine the percentage of votes a player gets. That's the best way i can explain it in a short sentence. It may solve that Hall of Fame drought you seem to have. |
