Anyone have a file?
Does anyone have a file that makes the game not so harsh on old players. I mean, man, when players turn 35 their ratings drop way too much no matter who it is. Usually in my single player careers, the yanks and braves (teams that should be dominant) have a crappy season the first year because the core of those teams are old guys and they take a huge hit in ratings usually mid season. This is just sorta annoying, so i was wondering if anyone had a file or something that changed the game.

You are probably basing this on a very small sample, try simming 40 or 50 years looking at the players OVERALL and not just one team or set of players. The game was tested over many, many multiple seasons and the player development was quite accurate and realistic in how careers lasted and stats accumlated.
The only was to change this is to get v3 or 4 of the game and play it, nothing will change this in v5.

As I posted in a different thread, this does not happen to all players. In one of my leagues, a guy just had his best year at age 39, leading the league in average, and followed it up with his second best year at age 40. Most guys in OOTP5 decline around 37 or 38, but the same holds true in real life.

This area is not perfect in OOTP but it is much closer to RL than it has ever been.

I understand how things work now. I think maybe what people have a problem with is the unknown factor involved. It would seem like that as a player gets older, ones scouts would at least have some idea as to how likely a player is to decline. Maybe some sort of hint a year or two early that a player is beginning to lose it. Right now it is a guessing game. It seems like contract demands for older players are the same as they are for younger players. These older players are demanding contracts for multiple years and large dollars. When they decline at 38 right after signing a large contract, we the consumer feel cheated. Maybe they need to have a feature which will force these players into retirement following the decline. There is nothing wrong with having the palyers decline. Give us a clue as to when it will occur and don't burben us with the contracts when it does and maybe we will feel a little better when it happens.

But IRL do GM's or coaches know when this is going to happen to a player? Well, there maybe some clues but not always and hey IRL guys sign huge contracts only to get crap out of a player so I don't feel like this is something that needs to be added to the game. Besides, there are "some" clues to when it may happen:
-age -injuries -scouting reports can change(I believe) w/o ratings hits(not certain though).
