California Stars
Getting to join a leage in creation gave me a unique ability to name and design a team that I would share with the world. usually in single player games I just used the in game utilities to make nice looking things and leave it since noone else would really be looking. But for this team in a league with other people I wanted some nice stuff. so over the last two week or so ive been stretching my meager editing skills to the limit to make something really neat, and for my first shot im pretty happy with this. so I introduce the California Stars.
The first image is what I put together first, playing with Justafans editors I was origionally going to stick with a nice glossy emblem, but then I stumbled across an old 2010 thread about stitching logos and decided they looked a lot better, though I still used Justafan's editors to make the center logo

And the cap and jerseys. Ultimatly i went simple and just made them with Justafan's creators, I tried the templates for GIMP but while I was doing good with the hats I had lots of problems with the jersey, colors not filling and shadows becoming too dark or looking glossy, I will have to play with that more, I was so excited with my work though I even made a pennant

Nice job... Good looking pennant too... What did you use for the texture layer to give it the embroidered look? Can you direct me to that 2010 thread about stitching logos? |

This was brilliant work, you dont need any textures, its all about manipulating the image with filters in the program, it took me a while to figure it out because I am not very experienced with this stuff and most of what they were talking about went over my head, but once I figured it out it became rather easy, but great looking way to make some nice logos. A good step by step progess is the next to last post on the first page

OH to be more clear the orginal instructions is to make the circular logos you'll see in the first posts. since mine was not a circular logo but the c and star I basically skipped the first three steps making the circles and just started with my logo on step 4

Wow, this is really good work! Definitely my favorite stars logo! I love the textured logo. Now I'm going to have to redo all my logos
The pennant also looks amazing. How did you get the shadow effect around the letters and logo? It looks real. Also, what font did you use for the CA? That thread was a great find. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you. the shadow effect came with the beveling that you do at the end of the process. by beveling it makes the logo looked raised and shadows the edges giving it that depth. The font was according to Gimp California FB Bold, same font was used for the C in the star logo

Excellent work.
If you can do that with logos you should explore working with layers and make your own jerseys. Anyhow, that is some pretty impressive work.

I want to do Jerseys next. It shouldnt really be that hard but for some reason I couldn't get the templates to cooperate. I assume I was messing up a step somewhere, coloring the wrong thing or activitating the wrong shader. it is my next goal, for truly awesome uniforms
