This independent league team will become an unofficial feeder of the Flycatchers.

2045 OFFSEASON
For the Great Plains team, despite the postseason collapse (which came because I didn't set the team's postseason roster, so it just simmed with nothing..) the team had a solid year and I think is positioned well into next year without a lot of off-season tweaks. My despite to strengthen the bench is there and while I'd love to go out and assemble the best pitching staff in the history of baseball, I think we have to remember this team can't really overextend itself beyond where it is.

So while I might make a minor tweak or two, we're basically gonna stick with the team as it is.

Here's our past season's stats by player.

Feel free to ask about a team you're curious about and I can post, FYI.

I'd like to maybe get a bit of speed for the ballclub, and I traded for Miguel Serna just now this off-season from Toronto for Maliki Chiki, a starter who won 13 games for us last year. But that might be my biggest move, despite some of the amazing guys out on the market right now.

Yeah, could you post about Boston? (my player's team). Oh and maybe a little bit about how my favorite team (Peanuts) Collapsed.

Converting the Canadian Winter League into a Japanese League and attempting to turn it into a talent generating league since the Winter League wasn't really getting us the kind of talent we wanted. I removed it from the draft too, so that means our only draft talent will come from the HS league, but hopefully we'll see more international talent now with a posting system and stuff too.

Transitioned the Australian League into their AAA league too, though we'll see if the game doesn't bork that. But if it works, that's what we'll do.

Just checked back in. Seems Lehman's all but gone--kind of a shame. I guess he's not much of a Lance Berkman after all.

THE DEMISE OF THE SAN FRANCISCO PEANUTS

Just three seasons after winning the Daylight Series, the Peanuts have fallen to the bottom of the AL standings. Why?

The title team had a combined WAR of 35.8 + 21.3 = 57.1

The following 2044 season the Peanuts team WAR dropped to just 18

The following 2045 season they dropped down to 17.4

Nate McDonald, a 4th round pick from 2042 has gone 31-54 over the past four years and is the only holdover from the title team's starting rotation.

Toshi Kichida signed a 5-year deal worth $146.7 million with Toronto two years ago and he's won two Pitcher of the Year awards since joining the Blue Collars (and he had two before he showed up) so that was a hard loss for the Peanuts.

Pretty much the entire lineup of the title team is gone. Also bad trades didn't help. The team traded Roy Jackson (3.9 WAR, .323 BA) to Colorado for two pitchers who aren't even with the team anymore.

So there you have it, the reason the Peanuts fell so quickly is they pretty much lost their entire team and the guys they had were old or stopped being effective.

As you can see, Greg Dean's 60 HR record held up from 1845 until 2027 when Sam Marshall finally surpassed it. Crazy, right?

Daniel Inzane created but he's a international FA rather than a draftee like the others. It's an experiment, as in, future players we'll just enter into the game as free agents from the start rather than going through the whole minor league to major league situation. Will be interesting to see the difference of future players.

So Beau O'Hely is really good. But he's 29 and he's got a long term deal still and if I can shed the contract, it'd probably be in our best interest because where we are now, we're not going to be able to do much with this team if we need to get some help at mid-season to get us over the hump, because we're carrying so many top heavy contracts.

Coming off a 47 HR season, there would be definite interest in having him, but I'm not as interested in prospects, which makes me think I'll have to orchestrate a three-team deal where someone else trades prospects to a team who wants to shed veterans and then the team with the prospects facilitated can end up with O'Hely.

It's January and I'm ready to start the season so if I can't figure it out in a week (in-game) or so, we'll just have to ride with him for the season.

You play the gm

26-year old Bryan Johansen Ashley, who was profiled earlier in the dynasty as part of the storied Johansen clan of this league that spans over 200 years of history, is currently playing with his home state team the Louisville Robins.

The Robins aren't very good and he's still got 5 more years on a deal, with a no-trade clause. But as the team isn't getting better, they're contemplating dealing him for a windfall of players so they can hasten their rebuilding process. He'd be open to the deal as he's interested in playing for a contender.

My question to you, intrepid reader is, do you try to shop him and see what you can get? No, he's not coming to Great Plains.

But I can see a few places with lots of prospects who are otherwise contenders who could probably assemble enough to attempt to pick him up while he's still in his prime.

Or do you just keep the hometown story going, he plays there and retires there and everybody is happy?

Thoughts?

Do you play with attributes on? Maybe his characteristics can help make the decision....personally I'd trade him to stockpile the farm, rebuild the Robins and have him return back to his hometown late in his career to help win a championship!...good story!

Hadn't considered using personalities before, but I love the idea. I think I will turn them on, I've always played with them off, but in this storyline it might work nicely.

Good idea!

This deal came together once Los Angeles decided to become a player. Part of four deals they've made this week to get back into contender status, the Halos have only made the postseason four times since in 27 years and their last time came 63 years ago (1983) and naturally the natives are getting restless.

This deal and the ones it triggered after should get them into a frenzy, as LA has officially had the best postseason of anyone this relatively quiet off-season.

Also our very own Grover Greenway is on the move again, this time as part of a three-team deal with Nevada, Buffalo and LA which lands him in Nevada this upcoming year.

Kichida for O'Hely in Major Trade

Quote:

A major trade has been executed between the Toronto Blue Collars and Great Plains Flycatchers, one that has stunned the baseball world. The Blue Collars traded 26-year-old starting pitcher Toshiro Kichida to the Flycatchers for 29-year-old right fielder Beau O'Hely, 29-year-old starting pitcher Bryant Barnes and a 6th round draft pick. When BNN contacted the Blue Collars GM, he said, "Putting this deal together was a lot of hard work, but the payoff will be tremendous, and Blue Collars fans ought to be excited about it." The Flycatchers GM added, "We put a lot of thought into this ... this trade will win us more ballgames." BNN analysts are debating who got the better end of the deal.

Here's how Kichida's lifetime stats look. He has a 112-45 won-lost record with a 2.81 ERA.

O'Hely has played in 1198 games and posted a lifetime .305 average. He has 1353 hits, 248 doubles, 40 triples and 398 homers. In addition he has driven in 1049 runs and scored 1051 times.
