Help with text.
Does anyone know of an easy way to create text like we use on the uniforms? I've tried PSP, Inkscape, Gimp and Helios. All of them are a pain in the butt. I want something like the old Paint program that game with the Amiga. It was so easy yet these newer programs have so many steps just to create curved text its not worth it. Any ideas would be great. Thanks.

I use PSP6 and it is not that hard once you do it a couple times. Just create an oval shape (i usually create it after my texture layers) and ensure the top of the oval curves at the height you want your text.
Next create your text (I put this between my shadow layers and the texture layers). Place the cursor just at the top of the oval shape and it will curve the text around the oval. Then uncheck the oval to make it disappear and you are left with curved text.

Photoshop Elements has a warp text feature that make it pretty easy to arc your text... It has about 15 different warp features you can apply to your text...

Thanks guys I'll give these two a try. I'm headed to microcenter for some tablet shopping and check into these.

For Gimp, you might want to try looking for some scripts or plugins. |

For anyone looking for text help try searching on Google or Bing for "paint shop pro text on a curve" or "photoshop text on a path" (insert your graphics program). You will find tutorials and videos. This link describes how to place text on a ellipse for the upper and lower sections, which is useful for logos. Works for other versions of PSP.
