Not watching this **** show has been relaxing. Still seeing the final scores after games are done pisses me off but at least it's not drawn out over hours of wasted time.

Here's my newest theory. For 2 1/2 years, the A's have been striving to be the best baseball team. -Loosing in the playoffs wasn't acceptable.
I guess they grew tired of that. So now they're trying to be historically good at being bad.

Beating Felix was supposed to be the turning point! But nope, this season is doomed. D-O-O-M-E-D DOOMED.
mirrf, I hope you have food and water in that bathroom. You're going to be in there until next spring! |

In all seriousness, Cespedes couldn't have saved this team. Unless Billy Beane could have figured out a way to clone him at the deadline, and replaced Moss & Norris with additional Yoenises.

Even though I'm locked in the bathroom until further notice, I still get more bad A's news. It's official, the Giants stole the River Cats from the A's. The new AAA affiliate for the A's is in Tennessee.
Maybe I should flush my phone down the toilet so I don't get any other news.

Well at least the Nashville Sounds just got a new stadium, so in a roundabout way the A's got a new stadium????

In addition to skipping more games I've almost had to turn off the push notifications I get with MLB AB. Almost.

Agreed. The issue is the other hitters coming down to earth not the loss of Yoenis per say. Leave figuring out whether the loss of Yoenis had anything to do with the other offensive players decline to the psychologists and the already written retrospective articles on an epic collapse of a season.

Oh. And Callaspo sucks as a ballplayer. He's not a good fielder and he's not a good batter. He's just bad. His only positive is that's he's versatile and we played him 34 times this year as a DH. DH Right there, wasted ABs.

I also remember being mad that BoMel didn't pinch hit Callaspo for Reddick in Game 4 of the division series, that infamous at-bat in which Reddick struck out swinging at ball four in the dirt with the bases loaded. Callaspo pinch hit for Sogard two batters later, when there were already two outs. He roped a ball down the left field line juuuust foul, and then roped a liner right at Austin Jackson for the final out. Soul crushing but I wasn't mad at Alberto. |

What a freaking bomb by Donaldson, and an even better bat flip. Mariners lost again so magic number is 6 with 7 to play....

BP has the A's playoff chances at 91% as of today. I think they are good. It will be a tough AL WC for me as I would like to see the Royals succeed.
Meanwhile the Braves over the last 7 days lost pretty much the last 12% chance they had of making the playoffs. **** my life

Also, of the possible WC teams, the A's have the highest probability of winning the WS at 8.2%
Also, using sims for the final week of the season, no team is expected to win 100 games or lose 100. It has been a season of relative parity. |

I'm hoping the Mariners just lay an egg against Toronto and play themselves out as I'm not confident the A's can roll against LAA and TEX. They've been teasing us for two months with these big wins. We think they've finally got some momentum and then they come up with a whole bunch of pfffffft. Since August 22-23, the A's have only won back-to-back games once. ONCE. And they followed up that W2 streak by getting swept at home by Texas.

We are all hoping the Mariners lay some eggs this week.
