INT Complex

My scout recently found quality player 2.5star at 16 years old. Will he develop if I leave him on the INT Complex, should I promote him to my lowest minor league level?

What are the advantages disadvantages? Will anyone else discover him if I don't promote him?

He's a member of your organization, so no one else can "discover" him. Most people seem to believe in leaving all international complex players there until they hit age 18. I've been using relative ratings to see how they stack up in the summer leagues or rookie ball. If their ratings are at a competitive level for those leagues at 16 or 17 years old, I'll put them there.

If they develop at a normal rate on the INT complex, then theres no reason to activate them until the latest date due to 40 man roster rules?

Is there a date when you must activate them or you lose them by?

Placing them in your minors doesn't add them to your 40 man roster. It will start the clock sooner on rule 5 eligibility, but if they turn out to be good, then you'll have them protected on the 40 most likely, and if not, then no great loss.

I do basically the same as BIG17EASY, if they're ready to compete against players in my minors, (whichever level) that's where I put them.

They definitely can develop in the INT complex, but what the "normal rate" is, I can't say because a lot of factors go into how a player develops. The reason I move guys up is because I like the possibility of having a 19 or 20 year old get to the big leagues. If they don't get to rookie ball until they're 18, that's basically impossible.

I don't think there's a date to activate them, but I believe the six-year free agency rule applies once they're in your INT complex. Someone with better knowledge of that can correct me if I'm wrong.

if they have the attributes of my lowest minor team, i will definitely put them in provided they are good enough to start.

Players can't stay in the INT Complex past the age of 19, so that's the reason you can't leave him there forever. The game will promote him automatically at that point if you don't do so beforehand.
