Please make it easier to have different logos in different leagues in which teams have the same name
I love, Love, LOVE OOTP's customizability, but if you load the current season all-in-one, it makes it so difficult to have different logos and unis in a historical league if teams have the same name as a current team. Then, if you go through and delete, say, the Baltimore Orioles logo from the file so that it won't default to the current logo in your historical league, you have to undo all of that to switch back to your current-year league. That's a fix that would be very welcome to those of us who like to play different world's from time to time. Thanks for the consideration.

Already possible. Go into team settings and select the logo/uni you want. You can select a different logo/uni for different teams with same name.

I understand that, but if you have loaded the all-in-one, then the next time you open the other league, all of the teams you specially picked unis for will just default back to the all-in-one. Getting logos to stick is even harder. To see what I mean, load the 2014 all-in-one. Close OOTP. Upon restarting the game, set up a historical league. The game will automatically load up the all-in-one unis, caps, and logos from the all-in-one for the Cincinnati Reds, Baltimore Orioles, Detroit Tigers (any team with the same name as the current franchise). Now, you can go through and hand-pick all of the unis, caps, and logos for those historical teams. Awesome. Close OOTP. Open it up the next day. Guess what? All those historical teams are right back to having the logos, unis, and caps from the all-in-one. To avoid that, you go to the logos folder. Remover the contemporary "Reds" or "Orioles" logo. Substitute the the historical one you like. Now, guess what? When you go back to play your 2014 league, the Reds and O's feature historical logos.

Copy the logos from the main logo folder to the saved game folder for both leagues then delete all the logos out of the main logo folder.

That sounds like a good idea. However, if I wanted to start a new current day league, your suggestion renders the all-in-one useless, right? Just wondering.

I'll stand by my original request: please make this easier. Over the years, I've almost always been able to do what I wanted in OOTP, and the various user-created mods have been a godsend time and again (thank you to the whole community). Sometimes, though, we rely on figuring out the workaround.
It's worth remembering that this can impact the initial reaction of new customers. I know I've shown off OOTP to friends over the years and have been met with some eye-rolling when showing them the crazy steps it takes to get the setup I'm demonstrating. The design team improves things like this every year, and UX/UI is far better than back when I first started playing (IX). This is another one that would help the newbies get to the fun part faster, and would make an old vet like me just a smidge happier, too. |
