Unless...They're doing another roster update on the current version? That would take very long indeed...oh well...wait and see what happens.
Anything to do with rosters/teams/leagues/data being updated is all done by researchers and not the actual dev team, well other than Jeff with the historical rosters etc so wouldn't impact too much on any timescale they have (unless one of the researchers suddenly stops sending in the data)

Just like Archi says, we researchers/mods/testers know the exact same as everybody here. Our behind the scenes forum tells us nothing extra than what you all know already.

Just as frustrating for me too. I guess I have just got used to waiting. Although the closer the new season gets the harder it is to keep on waiting

I would like to be able to just say what's going on, but I can't. And neither can Jeff. We certainly mean no disrespect by our posts -- see my previous "between a rock and a hard place" comment. My income will be affected by this too, so, as he said, we're probably even more frustrated by the situation because we'll feel it in our bank accounts.

I think that to offer no explanation is treating the people who have invested money and time since the beta stages of this game in a pretty disrespectful manner and certainly not a way that I would conduct myself as an IT professional.

What you will do with this cloak and dagger form of non-communication is isolate your users and lose potential and/or new customers for the next version.

I just wish they would come out and say the game was cancelled. That would be best, then they wouldn't have to read all of the crap that gets spewed on here. Cancelling this project may just be best for everybody so that people can get on with their lives.

Nothing was cancelled. If it was, we'd say so.

No, we don't want it cancelled! We can't pull the plug on the first version yet! It needs to be decent...Whatever they're doing...it needs to be completed. Imagine the Original Franchise Hockey Manager, in a strong playable state that actually is fun to play? It just needs a little more work. A lot of people will want to try this first version before the second because it will be cheaper and give them an idea. This first version needs to be good. And it can be good with a little more work.

I know, sometimes I think it would just make your lives easier if it was.

That being said, I see a lot of potential and I will still support this project as long as it is a project. I think we all know this was probably still a year away from being half the game you wanted when it came out to by, but that is beside the point. This game gave me the excitement about hockey that I haven't had in a long time and if it takes 2 or 3 years to even 80% of what you guys hope it will be, I will still be there to support it.

I guess I am just getting tired of reading the same posts over and over again about how we need all the information, we really don't. People will be happy, people will be mad, and people will hold a grudge because they feel betrayed. I for one am looking forward to the time when either the patch is released or the new game is announced. What ever you do, don't let people get you down.

I definitely don't want it cancelled either, been waiting way to long to just hear it cancelled now, I'm still looking forward to that last patch whenever it might be... I just go on with my daily life and when it gets here than it'll be nice and I for one will appreciate all the work and frustration of the team that did go into it

The first time I tried the game personally, set up a "unemployed" career, signed on with a minor league team as the manager, and a player got signed by the AI for "0" years for $14,000, I quietly closed it and wondered how that could ever be acceptable. How many years is 0 anyway? Oh well.

Eh, coding issues wouldn't necessitate such secrecy. My guess is that its something legal, no idea what though. Usually that's the only thing that requires the flow of information to be limited in some manner.

I'm hoping for the best (excellent quality patch out soon with an even better FHM15) but expecting the worst (FHM15 cancelled).

Removed my original post, in retrospect it isn't going to make the situation any better, even though I know communication has been sorely lacking lately and the deletion itself will, justifiably, annoy some of you. I'm going to have a talk with Markus tomorrow and we'll try to clarify things a bit for everyone. But to repeat, neither the patch nor the next version is in danger of being cancelled.

Just a suggestion here, but why not just scrap the patch and concentrate on FHM15? To me, and I'm sure most of the customers who paid for FHM14, it's already dead and one more patch isn't going to make it playable. The NHL season starts in just over a month. Work on trying to get FHM15 out around that time if possible.

Also, anyone who paid for FHM14 should get a discount on FHM15 in my opinion. I bought it on Steam when it went on sale but it was never playable for me. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Because the patch is the new game engine, which they need for FHM 15 anyway because it obviously will be the same engine?

From a business standpoint, I see no way they'd ever offer FHM15 at a discount. I would imagine the company is already predicting low, low sales numbers as it is. They need to milk the cash from those of us who will plop down their $40 without batting an eyelash--if for no other reason than to support the company and development of the game.

By the way,
Anyone else notice Sebastian hasn't posted on any forum for almost a month? The situation no one at ootp seems to want to talk about could have something connected with this. seems curious given the latest update.

Edit- seb just posted in his update thread, and as I was hinting, thought there was some sort of personal problem or illness in his world.
...hope everything improves for him.

Trust me, I know how much this can derail game projects. In my case, my game project was sidelined by the breakup of a long-term relationship, followed by several health issues and financial issues, all occurring back-to-back, and it knocked me out of the game dev world for almost 5 years. Worse yet, it was a project I took several dozen pre-orders for, making people quite annoyed needless to say.

So don't worry, Sebastian, I know of what you speak, it can be tough, and I hope you pull through it fine, whatever type of personal issue it may be.

um....not to be insensitive, but am I the only who noticed that Sebastian made no mention of the patch for the current game?

Any headway on this or should we view Sebastian's post as clarification for the problems that have been encountered?

We have had an update. The update might not be exactly what everyone wanted to hear but at least we know the game is still being worked on. In light of Sebastian's post I think it would be best to just give them space and some time to work on the game and not pile on any pressure. Let's see what they deliver i.e. the patch or FHM 2015 as the team are obviously still committed to releasing either of the two.
