Optimum time to hire personnel?
Trying to figure out when is the best time to hire replacement mgrs, coaches, etc. For instance, if I get an email telling me that my class A mgr is leaving, should I look for a replacement right then or wait until the available pool is possibly larger. I don't know if the AI is checking coaches daily or if there is a hidden staff signing period where all the AI teams fill openings at once. Hope my question is clear.

I am curious about this as well. In past versions, I generally higher replacements as soon as coaches left, just because it was better than forgetting. But I did notice at times that it was better to wait. If a minor league coach was leaving at the end of that league's season, the only coaches in the pool would be coaches from that league plus a bunch of unemployed guys. Whereas if I left that position vacation for a few weeks until the MLB season was over, the pool of coaches whose contracts expired was much bigger and much more talented.
But that was in OOTP 14. I have not yet dealt with the hiring of coaches in 15, but from what I have seen on the board, it seems that many experienced coaches will not sign minor league deals. This is probably more realistic, but could alter the strategy outlined above. |

The day after the playoffs are over/first day of offseason seems to the best time
