Rain Delay - Pitch Warm Ups

I have had several games delayed by rain. My starter is always exhausted after the delay. If I put another pitcher in he gets hammered. If I put somebody in the bullpen they have to warm up. The same thing has happened to me after my pitcher got injured. It seems the game does not allow for pitchers to properly warm up when they should have all the time they need. Am I missing a step?

Are you playing the game out?

If yes you should disable the warmup setting. Take note that a rain delay of more than 40 min will force you to replace the pitcher as you describe. Lesser delays and rising pitch counts may also apply.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I play every game as manager, so every at bat. Every game I have ever played I always use the warm up rule to make me think ahead. But I might have to rethink that if there is something where I lose a pitcher and should have time to warm up his replacement but can't, which would suck.Hopefully they add ejections and brawls sometime so there is yet another instance where it would be needed.

Somehow this has been a problem for several versions of OOTP.
