Is there a way to add a players position eligibility?

I'd like to add position eligibility to a couple of Cubs players that are eligible to play other positions, but I can't see how to do that. Is it possible to manually edit a players positions and give them skills and such for another position?

Not sure what you mean. Any player can "play" any position. Obviously it's better to have ratings for that position but there is no eligibility requirement other than not wanting a disaster in the field. You can edit all you want but in the spirit of the game most have players learn suitable positions in-game in ST. Keep in mind the "defensive spectrum" applies with respect to how easy an alternative position is to learn.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. Chris Coghlan is playing 3B some for the Cubs, so what I would like to do is make him at least adequate at the position within the game. Is there a way to add 3B to his list of positions and make him at least passable there, rather than just have him be rated at a 1 rating? I'm not trying to cheat or anything, just want my Cubs players to be as close to their real life counterparts as possible, as far as positions go.

Go into Commish mode, then to the players page - editor tab. You can adjust any of his ratings there.

Well he's played 8 games in the Majors at 3B for the Marlins not Cubs and is not good at all. So it seems he is very close to his in-game rating.

By all means edit his ratings to what you prefer.

I'm not trying to turn him into a Gold Glover, I really just want to make him passable. I noticed his eligibility in my Yahoo Fantasy League (I don't own him though), but I did want to make him at least have something there, since they (and thus I) sent Olt down to Iowa. Thank you guys for the information, I will try to figure it out based on what I have been provided.

how much can they improve in ST? if they started @ 25 in LF, and played there all ST, would it be out of question for them to get somewhere like 40? or is it a minimal improvement to something like 30?

Im assuming intelligence & work ethic also come into play here.

using the 20-80 scale as an example.

It depends on the players core defensive skills, the defensive spectrum direction, age and potential. See the player below. He obviously has not played much 3B but his core skills suggest that with sufficient reps he could be a decent 3B. He is more suspect than prospect so we don't know what effect that may have. It's important to remember that the position rating is experience based so a player with a low position rating and good core skill may perform quite well in a given set of games. I wouldn't get too caught up in the position rating until you get a decent sample size.
