Playoff Roster Management Still Wrong

I see V15 still doesn't do playoff roster management in accordance with MLB rules. Had a player get injured during the postseason, and while I was allowed to place them on the DL, I was not allowed to replace him with a playoff roster eligible player. Is it so hard to code this function to make it right?

Here is the rule:
4. A post-season eligible player who is injured during a post-season series can (with approval of the MLB Commissiner) be replaced on his club's MLB Active List (25-man roster) prior to the conclusion of that series by another player (albeit in this case a pitcher must replace a pitcher and a position player must replace a position player) who was in the club's organization as of midnight August 31st, including players acquired from another organizaton prior to midnight August 31st and minor league players who were not on the club's MLB 40-man at that time. Players on the Disqualified List, Ineligible List, or Restricted List (for reasons other than extended Bereavement Leave or a Prohibnited Substance Suspension) as of midnight August 31st are not eligible to be a "replacement player." A player who is on a Disabled List or who is serving a Prohibited Substance Suspension cannot be a post-season "replacement player" until the player has served the required minimum number of days (if on a DL) or games (if suspended). If a replacement player is on a minor league reserve list, the player mustr be added to his club's 40-man roster before he can be made eligible for the post-season.

Thumbs down

I just had a player get injured for 3 to 4 weeks on the last day of the season who was playoff roster eligible, and now that I'm about to start the playoffs, it's not letting me add a replacement player to the playoff roster.

Provided the playoff round hasn't started, you should be able to. Make sure the injured player is not on the playoff roster. Putting him on the DL doesn't automatically take him off the playoff roster.

No... the game won't let me put a non-eligible player on the roster to replace him, as the instructions (in the game, where I get to drop and drag players to it) tell me that I can do.

At the 'rosters and transactions' ... 'playoff roster' it says right on the screen: "You may add 1 player (s) to the playoff roster" and that they can be non playoff eligible if they were on the team prior to the sept.1 call up date.
And the injured player is off the playoff roster, yes.

If you Aqurired that player during the year and he doesnt already have the & symbol he cannot be added on to your playoff roster only players that have been with your Organization the whole year, Does it say 25/25 for your playoff roster if it does remove a guy to add a new guy the organize from there.

I removed the injured to the DL so the roster said 24/25 and it would not let me add a replacement without a & after putting him on the DL ... so, I posted this to the bug report.
The thing is, I had one other player at eoy that was on the DL that came off, so officially I had 26 players with & by their name, but one was in AAA and did not play the position that I needed/wanted a sub for.
So I went into the post season with only one player who had skill at that position.

The 2008-onwards "playoff DL" (player misses remainder of current series and next series) is not coded into the game.

The replacement eligible player (determined August 31st) needs to be on the 40-man roster in order to be able to be put on the playoff roster as a replacement.

Yes it does and it gives you the opportunity to add a player from the active (40-man) roster.

What you have to do is make sure there are less than 25 on the Playoff roster before you add previously ineligible players. That's as simple as moving players left to right on the playoff roster screen. Wish I had a screenshot to show it.

And this works ok. What about in-series injuries. We need to be able to replace a guy who gets injured in the first game of a series.

Markus, the irony here is that I think this is one of the places that OOTP's amazing flexibility can make things confusing. I wish I had the game in front of me here at work... don't tell my boss I said that... to confirm this, but my recollection is that one of the reasons I had so many issues with how injured players and the playoff rosters worked is that I tended to do it all in the "wrong" place.

For years, I would go to the main transactions page (the one with six windows) and change the default Active Roster area (top left) to the playoff roster and the default 40 man roster area (top middle) to the Eligible Playoff Roster and then I would make all my moves. And time after time, I would read on the board that I would be able to substitute a player for the injured one, but I could never make it work.

And then one season, for no apparent reason, I decided to actually click the Playoff Roster button and use that interface instead. And sure enough, when I placed the player on the DL, there was actually a little dialogue telling me I could replace him. And when I did, it worked fine.
