Season starts late
I've played OOTP for many years, and I've had this issue with every version of the game, so I thought I'd finally bring it up.
When I start a season, the game starts on the date that it should start. Unfortunately, once I'm a year into the simulation (and beyond), opening day is extremely late (mid-April), which pushes everything back. In my current game in OOTP 15 (which started with the 2014 season) the All-Star game just took place on July 29, two days before the Trade Deadline (and I'm only in the 2015 season). The 2015 playoffs won't start until October 13 because the regular season won't end until October 11, 2015. It really irks me, and I know there must be an easy fix that I'm just not seeing. I want the season to start on or around April 1. The All-Star game should be a couple of weeks into July. The regular season should end at the end of September or very early October. Playoffs should be completed by the end of October. Unfortunately, all of these are so late after just one season. [For the record, I'm playing the Standard Game] Last edited by maxprice; 06-21-2014 at 10:29 PM. |

I've experienced this same problem. I wonder if going with a "balanced schedule" would make a difference.

I think it is the Australia games messing things up. If you reset the date you want the season to start or regenerate the schedule without those early games, I think it clears up. It's come up before and there is a fix out there on a message board in here somewhere...

If the season has already started, take the last week of the regular season and postpone games (with the schedule editor/generator)and turn them into doubleheaders(or single games) that can be played throughout the season.

Use the 2013 schedule or any of the excellent GMO schedules for a 15/15 MLB set up.

I believe I've figured out a fix. As soon as your league hits preseason in late Jan, early Feb, go into the ML Schedule Editor.
ML Menu - League Settings - Edit League Schedule (in the middle pane, third option down) It will default to 2nd April 2016 (or whenever your opening day is set for), and it will have already generated your schedule with the two Australia games in there, with the rest of the league starting a week later. Go to the Available Actions menu, Generate Fictional Schedule. It should generate a schedule with no Australia games, just one game playing on opening day, then the rest of the league starting the next day. The schedule it generates, at least at my first glance, appears to be properly and divisionally balanced--i.e.: -19 games vs. division -6 or 7 games vs. everyone else in subleague - 20 interleague games Hope this works for you. I stumbled across this thread when trying to fix the same issue for my online league. Our "Australia games" had pushed the season back so far that the rule 5 draft in December was taking place BEFORE free agents filed, which meant 40-man roster spots were being taken up by guys who were going to leave the team in two days anyway. UPDATE: I simmed through another season and didn't have to make any edits to the following season's schedule. It would appear once you've done this fix once, it does it every year automatically. Goodbye Australia games. Last edited by kyle.tait; 11-10-2014 at 02:28 PM. |

I'm about to finish a 2014 replay so that might be a project I work on; assuming I can figure out how
