Getting Fired

I decided to try the Montreal Expos expansion t4eam in 1969. Once we got to opening day, the owner's expectations were to get to .500 ball. Yeah right, I had no chance. I decided to try to build from youth, but in August, 20 games under .500, I get fired! How can the owner expect .500 ball from an expansion team? At least starting with the '77 Jays, I got three and half years, before I was expected to make the playoffs! Still not reasonable, got fired half way through '80. I know you can check off the box not allowing you to get fired, but the game really should have less sensitivity to the record and allow a discussion between owner and GM, or at least temper the expectations!

IMO when you start out it is acceptable to check the can't be fired box for 3 seasons. Just like real life most managers are given some time to make it work. After that sink or swim!

yea, look at the Astros and Cubs, the GM's are safe for at least 3 years cause of the rebuild.
