Drafted Players
So, I did my first draft in the game and manually selected a player in every round. I took some guys who are very talented, but were hard to sign. Then I looked, and I didn't even have to negotiate with the players drafted past round 5. Why is it this way? I feel it takes away a bit of realism.

Also, is it normal for drafted players to go to the Dominican & Venezuelan summer leagues?

In OOTP it may be a programming thing, but they only have the first 5 rounds of players as a default that really demand a bonus. You will see bonus demands outside of rounds 1-5 but these are usually picks with high bonus demands and/or difficult signability. it all depends on the players you select. If you let the CPU draft, you will see lots of guys outside of rounds 1-5 with usually high demands, however they are either not worth the demand and/or very risky.
In regards to players going to summer leagues: Draftees once signed are placed on your lowest minor league team. This used to be Rookie Ball but OOTP has added the summer leagues now. Perhaps not realistic but it gets guys some playing time, which is crucial to player development. Last edited by joeyjojojrshabadoo; 06-09-2014 at 08:49 PM. Reason: Hysterical Inaccuracies |

I've noticed some of my drafted players were in the DSL and VSL as well, but I had a couple of them who were so advanced they went right to AA ball pretty much after only a handful of games in the rookie leagues. You're more advanced college players will a lot of times go to either higher Class A (California, Carolina, and Florida State leagues) or even AA if they are way ahead of the curve. It's a lot of times the young high school players that go to the lower minors like the VSL, DSL, or Gulf Coast leagues. |

Markus tried to do some stuff to keep Americans out of the DSL/VSL, but it seems he wasn't entirely successful. Hopefully this can be revisited/worked on for OOTP16. |

I find it frustrating when I trade for prospects and they automatically end up in the DSL/VSL, since they are the "lowest minor league". Sometimes I forget they are there for a couple weeks and then remember that 23 year old guy I traded for is stuck in a league with a bunch of teenagers.
