Elysian Fields' Simple and Drop Shadow Logos

I'm having trouble making the Helena Brewers logo. Their cap logos are edged in either white or their color of blue. However, on the logos I have, the background color is the same color and you can't erase it without messing up how the logo should look. If anyone has a copy of the logo that has the outline done correctly with the background erased I would love a copy of one. Or if you have any advice on how to save the proper outline that would be great. I can't trace well enough to make it look right.

Yep, that's it or their white lettered logo. How did you keep the white border on this logo? Did you just do it yourself? Or is there no white border?

There is a white stroke but I don't remember what I did for this one. I must have removed the white then gave it a stroke and tweaked it a bit around the edges.

How did you give it a stroke once you removed the surrounding white? I'm still learning what all I can do to make these things look good.

In Photoshop you just add a stroke layer, in Xara I use a plugin.

Ah. I'm using paint.net. I'm not sure I can do that. Maybe I can though and just don't know.
