According to OOTP itself, OOTP MLB play (modern and historical) outnumbers OOTP fictional play three to one.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

I found some very relevant names if you hit the "Randomize Nicknames" button a few times. *cough*

baseballfan83, you should probably delete that post. It's too directly said by you, and we wouldn't want any unwelcome eyes catching on to that if you know what I mean

What's the big deal? I'm mainly a fictional player but, it's not much for users to just go and change the team names themselves. I'd rather do that than see Markus remove features from the game (i.e. drug suspensions, brawls, etc.) that add immersion factor and realism to the game.

In the early days of OOTP (I've been playing since 2002), the game was released with fictional names and users had to edit the team names to MLB team names.

Well that suggestion was made since he said he already had v15 but was going to stick with v14. With that being the case creating in v14 and importing would at least let him use the newer version of the game. But yeah to start a new present day MLB game the suggestion would not work.

My apologies to the board for my rant yesterday. I was very frustrated when I wrote that post and over the past 24 hours I've had a chance to cool down and I'd just like to say that I agree with those of you who said that we're making a mountain out of a mole hill with regards to this latest patch. Is it tedious to have to change all of the team nicknames? You betcha. But this is a luxury problem. There are worse things happening right now in this world and I'm just grateful that we have a great game like OOTP.

Don't worry about it. Overreactions happen. Look at it like this too. Once you set the names you can make a quickstart or a save and not have to worry about it again unless there is some major bug that needs to be patched.

I find that the amount of time setting up a league is directly in proportion to the amount of enjoyment extracted from said league.

Think of how many of them have missing parents in them. It's not happy-go-lucky.

Depends on which Disney-era we're talking about. More recent Disney movies definitely tend to be less happy-go-lucky. Toy Story 3 is one of the most depressing movies I've ever seen. It's worse for me than Schindler's List.

Omg I agree on that i was expecting a happier movie but I've watched schindlers list and not the same man, I watched the originals when I was 5 and #2 when I was 6 so maybe it is that bad.

Well the first and second toy stories have most to do with childhood and thus are a bit happier in tone just because of that, but the third is literally about losing your entire life's purpose and coping with it.

They are going to protect their trademarks, it is really as simple as that.

We had a really good discussion going about it, but that was more speculation that anything. Wait until someone from the development team actually tells you the sky is falling before you make a bigger deal out of this than it is at this point.
Oh I believe they are going to protect their trademark, alright, but that isn't really what the person you quoted was talking about. I think you are not seeing the big picture here. That is, the game of baseball is (and has) being destroyed by MLB, and those who have followed the sport religiously for many, many years, in some cases for 70-80 years, don't matter. Without the fans MLB would have been long gone.

You have any choice? Would you more likely follow Ukrainian Babseball League?
