Help with pitcher editor and hitter editor

I still can't seem to find the best way to edit pitchers and hitters...I have begun putting real minor league rosters together for the 1976 season (importing real players that were in the minors) but editing fictional players into real minor leaguers with correct names....I am trying to edit their stats but having a tough time ....with Roger Alexander I made some edits and he went to a 4 star guy which is too much...what specifically should I pay attention to on the pitcher and hitter editor...and please be specific...also, I have been thru the forums several times and have seen the obvious links but none really explain what I should do here

Thanks

Basically, with pitchers you have to know what they throw and how well they throw it. How much velocity do they have on their fastball and how well do they locate it along with their breaking pitches. For hitters you need to know if someone is more of a line drive hitter, slap hitter, or power hitter along with how good is their batting eye. Do they take a lot of pitches and wait for their pitch or are they free swingers?? And also don't forget about their BABIP as well (although in 1976 they didn't have that stat) what is their batting average for putting the ball in play?? Those are just certain basic things to know when editing players, especially for a historical thing like your doing.

Rock...I appreciate you getting back at me...

Obviously with the low minor leaguers I just have stats..

Questions:

1- on the ratings editor it says 1-250 but it seems clear the numbers are actually my 20-80 ratings (which I prefer) I should only edit pitch types and velo here?

2- does the R/L split get figured out on its own after I edit the pitches?

3- do I edit the hit batsmen, wild pitches, movement, control, balks, section?

4- the resulting stats section do I mess with that at all or is that determined by my numbers I put in we already discussed?

5- should I ever push create current ratings based on or potential ratings (I did that once and it made a scrub an all star...I don't want that)

6- Defensive ratings again say range 1-250 but it again seems to me like I use my 20-80 ratings here too?

FOR HITTERS:

1- what do I need to edit? (Again seems like 20-80 even though editor days 1-250... Do I edit his BABIP and others stats vs LH RH and potential

2- resulting stats....same as pitcher?

3- hitting type ...now I see the 1-250 and I would assume it is again 20-80 but then I see a guy with a bunt of 151....this is very confusing and IMO not well defined anywhere in the manual- so do I edit all of these too

4- so a big question is do I edit these places with a 1-250 range or a 20-80 range?

When i create players whther they be a clone of someone or a fictional player i always create a new player. Editing an existing player you will have to edit his contract, experience and i think one more thing after the draft or after he is on a team.
For players who only get a cup of coffee in the majors i try to balance out between what they hit in the minors and what they should hit in the majors. 10 HR in the majors could be 30 in the minors. 2.40 in the majors could be .310 in the minors. Try to aim for 1.5 ML players to have decent to good minor league stats.
i'll add more over the weekend.

Every rating in the Editor is on a 1-200 scale, not a 20-80 scale. Values between 201-250 can be used in most places, but they are only for once-in-a-generation ability, so if you're creating minor leaguers, you will never use them (except maybe for Speed/Steal if someone stole 80+ bases). For minor leaguers, you'd rarely use values over 120 except for Speed/Steal and defense ratings, since if a player had ratings that high, he'd be in the Majors.

What is this for? It would take months to create every player in the minors for 30 teams from scratch - that's about 6000 players. Is this a historical league you've imported, and you're only editing the reserve roster guys? Or are you manually creating guys who were in the minors in 1976 who are not imported into OOTP? When you play your league, how much attention will you pay to these minor league players? Is it important that they produce correct Balk totals, for example? If not, you can just ignore that field in the Editor, but if yes, then you will want to set it based on the player's stats. Are some of them prospects? If not, you don't need to pay much attention to their Potential ratings, but if yes, you will need to. Are any of them going to play in the Majors?

People will be able to help more if they know exactly what you're trying to achieve.

I am adding all of the correct minor leaguers to 1976...yes, I know it will take a long time. I started with the Braves and their AAA team in 1976 (for example) only had a couple players that never made the majors...so, for a guy like 3B Jeffrey Geach I edited him over a fictional player. For guys like Norm Angelini or Reggie a Sanders I just added them from the historical database

As you go lower in the minors for the braves...I find more guys that never played in the majors so I added them over created players too...(basically I have fictional players and I edit a real player over them) and continue adding historical players to the low minors if they were on a roster back then...Bruce Benedict, Terry Harper, Larry McWilliams, Rick. Mahler...etc...

I love the history of the minor leagues and have a large minor league card collection so I am enjoying the stats part of this game and look forward to the peace it gives me to break up a busy schedule...

Does that make sense?

I want the minor leaguers to be realistic to how they actually were...and, hey if one breaks out or gets an opportunity due to an injured big leaguer.,,well. In this world maybe Roger Alexander becomes a staple in the Braves rotation

I am doing every player that played with all the correct minor league teams and leagues...will take awhile...and I am ok with that

I am not playing with financials on...so, this is not an issue

I have a system already for figuring out stats equal to major league level...but it is similar to yours
