Adopt new pitching program?

My pitching coach adopted a new pitching program (more throwing). Is this just a storyline thing? Or will there be a real effect? I couldn't find any information anywhere. As long as my pitchers don't start getting hurt (more)!

Just from context seems more throwing= chance at stamina boosts
